The witness was archery hunting on a trail at dusk after separating from a companion to go different directions. After hearing an unfamiliar deep yelping sound and then loud wood-splintering, the witness saw a head-and-shoulders shape with no visible neck beyond a log. When the shape swiveled slightly, the witness backed away and returned quickly to the vehicle, visibly frightened.

The witness reported seeing a tall, stout, brown-furred creature with a non-furry face standing in a pasture surrounded by woods. The creature made a very loud noise that neighbors heard and called about, though they did not see it. Dogs barked beforehand from about a mile away and nearby cows were badly spooked.

In the early afternoon the witness hiked from one high mountain lake toward nearby Lost Lake. Near a boulder about 20 yards away the witness saw a large hairy biped that crouched, looked toward the lake and the witness, then stood and walked briskly into trees out of earshot. The witness estimated the encounter lasted 8 to 12 seconds and then left the area quickly without following.

Two companions were sitting on the porch of a rarely used hunting cabin at night after a noisy day of target shooting. They heard a loud, persistent, unfamiliar vocalization from across the hollow that seemed to move behind the camp over 15-20 minutes. They retired inside with no further incident, and a next-day search found no tracks or other sign.

A large college group camped late at night in a remote, densely wooded rocky area. After midnight they heard large rocks being thrown into and around a nearby stream and loud wailing, howling and grunting sounds that grew closer when the camp was loud and receded when quiet. After confirming all members were present, most of the group left early while about 10-15 stayed quietly until dawn as the sounds grew more distant.

Animals and birds were seen moving away from the sounds while branches were seen and heard breaking nearby, followed by a loud splash. After fishing for about an hour in bright moonlight, the witness heard a loud, deep guttural sound repeated four times from the woodline where they had entered. A group camping above a swollen river heard mumbling voices and stick-breaking approaching, followed by loud chanting, shouting and stomping that shook a log seat and was taken as a demand to leave. The sounds stopped after deep hooted calls and later receded to distant screams up the valley and across the mountain. Later, while in a tent, the witness saw the firelight blocked by a squatting silhouette that touched the zipper with five digits, with felt breath and strong odor, before withdrawing. In the morning the witness noted hairs and deep depressions on the trail.

The guest was dropped off to hunt alone from a ground blind on a wooded mountaintop. He watched a large hair-covered biped for about 45 minutes as it struck trees with a rock and listened, pushed over a tree to extract a small mammal, killed and ate it, and dug with a stick. The animal later moved around the mountain, after which deer ran past and the frightened guest waited in a tree until his companion retrieved him.

As they hurried back down the trail with a feeling of being followed, they heard a loud scream behind them, then additional screams from the west and southeast. In 1994 the witness was hunting on a farm in Florida when a strong foul odor was noticed. Shortly after turning a curve, the witness saw a tall brown bipedal animal about 40 yards away that turned and ran very quickly into the woods. A deep grunt-like vocalization was also heard. The witness did not shoot, citing uncertainty about what it was.

The witness was camping and was awake in a sleeping bag in the early morning when extremely loud, bellowing two-part vocalizations were heard. One or possibly two warbling or yodeling replies followed from the same direction. A few minutes later two bursts of rifle fire were heard from that direction, and a subsequent search with spotlights up to 2 km north and south found nothing.

In the fall of 1994 the witness walked into the woods behind the home at night with a flashlight and shotgun to scare deer away. He shone the light on a tall, broad, fur-covered figure standing still in brush whose eyes reflected the light. The figure grunted, yelled and moved toward him, the witness fired three times at close range then fled to the house, hearing it run and give a long loud warbling yell.

The witness and companions were in bed at a hunting camp late at night when horses were spooked and something ran through camp while making a strange yell. They thought it was probably a bear at the time. The next morning they found large man-shaped tracks and later used the story to scare visiting relatives.
Tree break near Albany County (1994)
The witness's car sputtered to a stop on a bridge and the witness set out on foot toward home. From a dark forested slope the witness watched a tall tree thrash, then heard a massive thud, three loud knocks, and rapid footsteps sprinting uphill toward the road. An unseen presence stopped feet away breathing sharply, then repeatedly ran ahead and waited, forcing the witness to pass it several times over an eighth to a quarter mile. Near dawn where cover ended the presence vanished without ever being seen.
