The witness was walking home at night near a creek when something began throwing sticks and rocks and following her. The throwing reportedly paused when cars passed. She ran to a bridge where the pursuer entered bushes but continued throwing objects, while she heard footsteps, smelled a strong bad odor, and glimpsed only a large dark figure. Footprints were reportedly found in sand the next day.

Immediately after his car passed, the figure stood upright and crossed the two-lane road behind the car in two to three long strides, seen in the rearview mirror. He described a very stocky figure about six and a half to seven feet tall with dark brown medium-length hair that appeared to flow with movement.

A professional driver was driving an empty bus eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 near Mancos, between Cortez and Durango, shortly after sunset. About 150 yards ahead, the witness saw a large, entirely dark, muscular figure on two legs dash rapidly across the road from south to north in two to three seconds. When the witness reached the crossing point, thick woods on both sides hid any further trace, and a second driver traveling behind did not see the crossing.

A passenger in the back seat saw the figure only as it entered the brush. The front-seat witnesses described uniform coloration, very big running strides, and a forward-hunched posture, and said it never looked toward them.
