The witness and his girlfriend were night hiking about 100 yards into a paved trail when they heard snaps, a heavy thud, and three deep grunts. They then heard two sets of footfalls circling toward the trail entrance. They left without seeing anything.

After being harassed by wild horses on a walk, they heard a growl near the tent at night and saw crouching yellow eyes, then after going to bed heard repeated hits on the same spot of the tent roof and his wife heard stick-banging while packing, prompting a nighttime departure.

When the guest was about fourteen with a friend, they hiked to the top of a bluff and started down a dry ravine. While stopped halfway, a low deep awful growl sounded a few feet behind them. Terrified and unwilling to turn around, they both bolted down the rocky ravine.

At a rural house on the Oregon coast the household experienced repeated night howls, growls, talking-like sounds, dogs reacting, motion lights, a hand smudge, and large footprints in hard gravel. Young children repeatedly described dark hairy figures with flat noses and red eyes pawing or scratching at a bedroom window, motioning to come outside, and disappearing and reappearing.

The witness was driving home late from a family dinner and slowed in a desolate gamelands stretch where deer often cross. A young deer tumbled into the road and a huge hairy biped leapt from a bank, grabbed the deer, broke its neck, growled, then leapt over a guardrail and disappeared downhill.

The hosts recall hearing a fourth and fifth growl that shook them rather than the car. They felt elevated heartbeat, fear, confusion and time loss and had to stop to regroup.
Odor in Florida
The witness paddled a kayak in pre-dawn darkness to scout fish and noticed unnatural quiet. After daylight he smelled a horrific odor, heard a powerful scream-growl that shook vegetation, and saw a face behind a palm frond. The creature charged into the water to within about 15 feet while he held up a paddle, stared with a hostile expression, then turned and walked back to the woods.

The witness, working as a narcotics investigator, was parked on a gravel road at a management-area entrance and stepped to the back of the vehicle. A tall broad figure about the witness's height stood 50 to 60 feet away in profile and then turned to face the witness. A rumbling grunt was heard from the brush nearby while the figure watched, after which the witness got in the vehicle and left.

The witness climbed about 20-25 feet up a pine on a small peninsula to wait for hogs over bait at dawn. He watched a large dark female figure stalk tree to tree toward the hogs, then leap, scream, knock a hog into an oak and kill it by pounding its side. The creature carried the hog off, exchanged calls with another unseen creature, then scented, located and stared up at the witness before walking away.

The witness, a long-haul driver on a first solo delivery run, parked overnight at a brake-check pull-off. After stepping out to urinate and returning to the cab, a large tawny creature rose from behind a dumpster and stared from a few feet away, making aggressive faces and growling sounds. A second female-looking creature carrying small animals then emerged without acknowledging the witness, after which both left quickly and the witness drove away.
Howl in Ohio
Alone awake late at night the witness twice heard a very loud distant then nearby sound that began as a low roar and morphed into a long howl. The sound felt physically overwhelming and caused shaking, tears and a sense of helplessness. Afraid to look out the dark window, the witness got into bed and stayed alert without further sound, later feeling a documentary recording called the Ohio howl closely matched it.

At age 15 the guest was fishing alone at a creek near his father's house when he heard whoops and saw a large hairy figure behind a sycamore. He confronted it with a .22 rifle, and after it growled and roared he shot it in the throat, then in the hand, then multiple times in the chest as it screamed, broke saplings, and ran straight through a barbed-wire fence across a hay meadow. Later that day his father found broken trees, blood and hair on the sycamore, and blood and hair on the broken fence wires.

After the main sighting the family reports continuing to hear low growls and careful bipedal-like steps at night in the woods around the house.

The witness and a cousin were catching fireflies near the tree line by a family cabin after others went inside. They heard a loud snarl and saw a tall upright silhouette leaning against a tree. Both fled to the cabin, and the witness never discussed it with the cousin afterward.

Over about 18 months visiting a remote grow 2-3 times weekly, the witness reports being paralleled, escorted out, growled at, and charged. Specific daytime incidents include cutting the grow when the large male growled and pushed trees down, and a May triple charge stopped when he chambered his pistol while watering plants.

On the night of moving out, five individuals approached the property. The two adults stayed 50-75 yards back while three juveniles of different ages came within 10 yards of the deck for about 45 minutes, swaying, watching, and making growl-like practicing sounds.

Shortly after high school the witness and his cousin camped beside a river after hauling kayaks and a towed canoe uphill. In the night the witness heard steps and a loud growl beside the tent and saw a large dark shadow in moonlight. Next day belongings were scattered, food was gone, and the heavy canoe was up in a tree.

The caller said he and two companions were night-hunting with roof spotlights when they spotted red eyes and fired on a crouching creature. The creature stood about seven to eight feet tall and ran on two legs before being shot multiple times and falling near a creek. They later tracked blood and footprints to a plum thicket where the witness shot a six-foot hair-covered female at close range and found a larger dead male behind her.

The guest and his wife were sitting in a borrowed van in the driveway late at night when the wife saw someone run past and a loud whoop and growling started beside the van. The creature shook the van and was lit by brake lights, then the father fired a shotgun from the porch and it leapt across the driveway into the woods. Later that night rocks were thrown at the trailer damaging a fan and siding, and next morning bent van metal, foot impressions, feathers and a missing chicken were found.
Unidentified sound near Hanging Rock, Ohio
The witness and friends camped at a favorite ridge site between two ponds and were awakened by loud splashes. Later something circled the tent sniffing closely and gave a deep snarl near the witness's head. Both tent occupants stayed frozen until it left, found no tracks in the morning, and never returned.
