During a family picnic in the Wasatch Mountains, a five-year-old playing hide-and-seek ran around a mound and encountered a large hair-covered figure about 30 feet away beside a tree. Adults suggested a deer or bobcat and found nothing on re-check, but the child saw the figure again in the same spot while the group was leaving.

In a flashlight beam they saw a bipedal figure handling the dogs, throwing one, which then turned toward them and fled into trees with crashing brush and a lingering odor. They left the area that night and heard the vocalization again from farther off while packing.
