The witness walked alone back toward camp at night after not finding cigarettes in a parked car. Near a pond he heard a close abrupt snort from the treeline, then a second layered snort-growl-hiss perceived as coming from several feet up just inside the trees. He continued toward camp without running while hearing cracking branches and feeling followed until he reached the fire.

The witness went archery hunting alone along a ridgeline after school. He first took a distant animal for a bear and maneuvered to get a shot. Through binoculars he then watched it walk downhill on two legs for at least 40 yards before it noticed him, looked at him, and left quickly without running.

The witness and a companion were on an early-morning hike from a camp when they noticed a tall dark shape on a distant rocky hillside. After the companion discharged a gun, the shape disappeared and was then seen walking away quickly with long swinging arms. The pair returned to camp without saying much. The witness and a relative were camping at night and talking when they heard footsteps moving through vegetation toward their camp. The sounds approached to within about ten feet and then stopped, but the witness could not see anything in the dark brush. The next morning no sign was found near camp, though the witness found a fresh parted trail through ferns in a washout downhill.

The witness was alone fishing at night from a float tube on Pass Lake. Midway across the west bay, the witness heard an extremely loud, sustained high-pitched scream from the direction of a farmhouse about half a mile away, described as lasting about seven seconds followed by about four seconds. Unable to attribute the sound to any known animal, the witness associated it with a Bigfoot scream and left the area shaken.

Late at night in September 1997, the witness was smoking on a back porch when a high-pitched screech was heard from a neighboring yard. The witness then saw a very tall white human-like form running through that yard with its head turned toward them. The form ran into nearby woods and running sounds continued for several seconds before the witness went inside.

The outline stood out in the darkness and its eyes reflected a white/silvery light. Both occupants were shocked and spoke little about it afterward.

The witness reported finding unusually large tracks estimated at 20 inches near a campsite. That night the group heard loud piercing screams in the forest and smelled a strange skunk- and sweat-like odor, and the witness sounded a personal alarm which seemed to drive something away. The next morning they found more tracks near the campsite along with some broken branches.

The witness was driving north on a highway at night approaching a lit intersection. A tall dark figure emerged from the roadside ditch, approached the car in one stride, and stared at the witness. The witness continued to the stop sign, saw the figure standing in the middle of the road in the rearview mirror, and drove on without stopping.

The witness arrived early to hike a park nature trail after overnight rain and found elk tracks on the muddy path. On top of the elk tracks was a set of much larger barefoot human-like prints continuing in the same direction for dozens of feet. No other visitors had been on the trail, and the witness asked a ranger about the prints after looping back.

Three people spent the evening inside a remote northern California cabin playing a recording of a reported howl about every 15 minutes. About an hour after starting, they heard a powerful whistle from very close in front of the bay window where they stood. They turned off the lights and waited, but heard nothing further that night.

Late at night while sleeping on sand bars beside the river with a companion, the witness was awakened by limping bipedal footsteps moving on the slope above. A flashlight revealed nothing and the steps resumed, approaching close before loud guttural yelps and moaning described as a cry for help were heard. After remaining awake and still for an extended period the witnesses fell asleep, later heard a large splash in the river, and found no tracks in the morning.

The witness reported walking at night from a campsite toward a bridge along a sandy creek bottom. They found large footprints in the sand and became aware of something large moving through brush with sounds. They also noticed an unusual odor in the area where the sounds occurred.

The witness was driving slowly on a wooded back road at dusk when headlights caught eyes in a tree beside the road. A small hair-covered figure dropped from a branch, landed crouched without fully standing, then ran on two legs up a ravine. The witness estimated the whole event lasted about 30 seconds.
Recollection of seeing a huge bipedal shadow while camping that steals food near Steelville
The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.

In late August 1997 the witness was camped alone without a tent on an aspen hillside after hunting grouse. In the middle of the night something circled the camp at close range, moving bipedally with shuffling steps, breaking branches and making low muttering sounds. After several minutes the witness spoke aloud saying he wanted no trouble, after which the prowler stopped and then trotted downhill away.

The witness and a companion were hiking along a creek toward the beaver dam area when they saw movement behind a fallen pine tree. As they approached, they saw a tall brown-haired creature with a manlike head and gorilla-like body kneeling at the base of the tree. The creature stood up and ran a short distance into thick mountain laurel upslope, and a foul musty odor was noticed.

The witness and companions were camping on a hilltop overlooking a valley and creek. Late at night the witness heard heavy bipedal steps climb a steep slope, stop, then run into the forest, sounds the companions also heard. About two hours later the group heard a single very loud scream that briefly silenced forest sounds. Around 2 or 3 AM a companion awoke to see a large arm reaching through the van window for food, and food was found missing and spilled, with gouges seen on the slope the next morning.

The witness and a hunting companion were talking in the bed of a pickup while camped after bow hunting near Crooked Creek on a bright moonlit night. About 20 yards away they watched a two-legged figure peek from behind a cottonwood tree, then run to hide behind another cottonwood. Feeling unsafe with only a bow, they shouted about having guns and then left, driving 25 miles to sleep elsewhere.
