An investigator visited the densely brushed property, observed extensive trails and shelter-like spots, and interviewed the household about four to five individuals of different sizes.

A large dark-brown figure then knocked over a small dead tree across the road and ran toward them. Both fled a short distance to their house, with the figure closing to within a few feet before continuing into the woods.

Two companions hiking in Apalachicola National Forest stopped at a shallow brook to cool off. After leaving the water they heard rocks colliding and sticks breaking and went to investigate. They glimpsed an ape-like biped charging away through thick brush, breaking limbs and leaving a foul odor. Afterwards they noted disturbed rocks and a partial heel print that later dried out and was not photographed.

The witness was canoeing alone on the river in the afternoon and had to pull out to drag the canoe around a log jam. He smelled a terrible odor and was paced by something unseen that stopped when he stopped, then heard screaming, breaking limbs, and saw a large log thrown and trees violently shaking. He fled in the canoe to the center of the river.

They estimated the prints were about a day old and also noted scarred trees and broken branches in the area. Frightened by the size and strangeness of the signs, they left and reported the experience right away.

A deer hunter sat in a tree stand on a crisp clear morning while noticing a strong foul odor. While walking back along an old logging trail around 10 a.m., the hunter saw a very large upright hairy animal step onto the trail, pause and look, then calmly walk away bipedally. The hunter ran the opposite direction, dropping gear, and later returned to find no tracks but noted a freshly broken branch.
