A family camping at a wooded campsite was awakened around 4 a.m. by strange calling sounds and heavy footsteps behind their tent. After shouting, they heard heavy stomping retreat into the woods and fled to their car. They returned later that morning, heard heavy breathing and had a stick thrown toward them before retreating again, later finding disturbed garbage and an opened food packet before leaving.

After picking up a relative at the airport, the witness became lost while driving at night with her two children on unmarked rural roads. While traveling slowly near a church, she and the children noticed a large brown furry figure crouched by the roadside ditch with its back to the road. They did not stop and continued home. The witness first assumed it was a bear but later questioned that after learning brown bears are not found in the state.

The witness returned to the site of a large footprint found the previous day to take photographs. He banged sticks together for about ten minutes to try to provoke a response. Immediately after one knock he heard an extremely loud high-pitched scream or roar that frightened him. He ran down a steep brushy hill back to the house without looking back.

The witness stood on a back step calling for a dog and looked over a tall kennel. A large hairy creature with reddish-brown hair was partly visible behind the kennel, showing part of its head and a long arm. The witness estimated it was about 7 feet tall because it stood taller than the kennel, then heard landing thumps and ran back inside.

The witness and a relative were driving on a road through a hunting area late in the morning when they saw a large hair-covered biped beside the road at very close range. The vehicle passed within a few feet of the creature, then they turned around to look again. The creature had left the roadside and left a trail of disturbed vegetation and indistinct footprints. They described its size, build, hair, and facial features in detail.

On the morning of October 5 2009 the witness and a companion were driving toward a hunting area when two black upright figures about seven feet tall ran across the road and into dense brush. The witness drove closer and then got out to listen but heard nothing and the figures were gone. Later that night the witness heard an unusually loud whoop-like sound first taken for a loon. In the morning an indistinct disturbance entering camp and a freshly snapped tree stump were found, and while hiking out the witness felt watched.

The witness hiked into dense timber to scout for signs and found arches, tree breaks, and woven saplings. After hearing an unexplained sharp noise from the hilltop, the witness waited and then heard two distinct clacks described as rocks struck together. The witness then left the hill and exited the area.

The witness and his sister were waiting at a rarely used roadside bus stop before sunrise when they smelled a foul odor and heard low grunting that grew louder and more aggressive. A large dark-brown figure then knocked over a small dead tree across the road and ran toward them. Both fled a short distance to their house, with the figure closing to within a few feet before continuing into the woods.

From a sixth-floor hotel balcony before dawn, the witness watched a tall hair-covered biped for five to six minutes at a distance. The being stared, rocked side to side, and repeatedly leaned to pull bark from a large pine tree. Late at night the witness heard a very large bipedal animal moving through snowy woods to the woodline, breaking branches and small trees, but could see nothing despite moonlight. After listening with his wife from an upstairs window, he searched in the morning and reported large humanlike tracks, a crushed fence, and a dismembered deer with legs stacked by a sitting impression. While photographing the scene, he says a thrown stick struck his head, prompting him to run to the house.

The witness and relatives reported finding two sets of large four-toed footprints in snow that crossed residential yards. The witness and a relative were wood-knocking in the backyard at night. After the witness knocked five times, they heard a high-pitched chatter from one direction and a grumbling sound from another direction for about a minute. Additional knocking produced no further response that evening.

A family driving back to their mountain cabin at night rounded a turn and saw a tall, dark-haired biped walking on the roadside. All four family members watched it take several strides on the pavement before it left the shoulder and went down toward a creek without acknowledging them. The parents had glimpsed a similar figure in nearly the same spot the previous night. The next day the family found slide marks and a broken branch near the creek and learned another family had also seen the creature.

The witness was working alone with a guard dog in a forest clearing being cleared for a runway when, after shutting down machinery, two series of very loud rock-banging sounds came from the shadowed tree line. The dog stayed alert but would not approach, and the witness felt watched and left without seeing the source. Weeks later he found very large deep footprints pointing toward the sound location.
