Security guards have nighttime sightings outside Jacksonville
While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

The witness estimated it at 6-7 feet tall and over 300 pounds, moving very fast in a few steps with arms pumping and a hunched posture. The witness stopped at the crossing point but noted no odor and found no tracks due to hard ground.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

The witness was alone at a lakeside camp at night when a loud road-blasting shot triggered a rockslide. Right afterward the witness heard a large animal crashing through brush and then prolonged howling and screaming from across the lake for about half an hour. When it seemed to notice her it stepped behind the tree, and when she glanced away to call her husband it was gone. Later that day she and her husband found large footprints and broken branches at the location.

While archery deer hunting on a trail in the morning, the witness reported feeling watched before seeing a creature walking rapidly toward him down the same trail. The creature approached for several seconds before turning off the trail and disappearing over a ridge about 70-80 yards away. The witness followed to the ridge top but left after hearing a grunt-like sound.

Two companions were camping in remote steep woods while digging ginseng when they were awakened late at night by loud howls, screams, growls and chattering. Something shook trees and threw large rocks and small sapling trees into their camp for hours, retreating when the fire was built up and returning as it died down. At daylight they found saplings broken off and uprooted around camp and hiked out to the road.

The witness was looking after his girlfriend and her younger brother when the locked front door knob was jiggled. After leaving to call police from his parents’ house, he stepped outside with a flashlight and saw a tall off-white muscular human-shaped figure standing in the weedy field in moonlight. The figure vanished when he raised the light again, and he later found the weeds mashed down where it stood.
