Tracks (1959)
Nine experienced student hikers camped on the slope of Dead Mountain during a certification trek and rushed out of their tent at night into severe cold in minimal clothing. Searchers later found the tent cut open with belongings inside and lines of footprints leading toward the woods. Five bodies were found between camp and forest and four more buried under deep snow in a ravine with severe fractures and missing soft tissue. Authorities attributed the deaths to an unknown compelling force and closed access to the area.

At about age 11, the witness was walking alone to a restaurant hangout around midday in winter when he noticed very large bare footprints with distinct toes in the snow of a vacant field. The prints formed a long stride and ran southwest across the entire field. He did not see the maker and did not report it at the time because of his young age.

The witness, then a teenager, was riding with his brother and a friend in an old pickup checking irrigation on his father's walnut ranch when they spotted a tall hairy biped moving through the orchard. They chased it by farm roads as it ran uphill diagonally across a 40-acre block, stopped to watch it pass close by, then followed it across more blocks until it crossed a road and disappeared into dense brush on a neighboring property. Afterwards they inspected its long strides in wet ground and decided not to tell his father for fear of losing their irrigation job.
A series of large, human-like footprints are found on a farm near Wayne National Forest
The witnesses found a line of very large barefoot human-like tracks in snow on their farm leading into a wooded hollow and thickets, which they did not follow. The tracks were described as about 13 inches long with five toes, no claws, and a 4.5 to 5 foot stride, unlike bear tracks. A game warden viewed the tracks the next day and could not identify their source.

Two relatives living on a farm reported a strong odor in their dairy barn followed by footprints in the barn lot leading toward dense forest. A few days later additional tracks were found near a creek and plaster casts were made. At the time the residents said they had never heard of Bigfoot and interpreted the activity as contact with some kind of giant.

The witness describes growing up in a remote wooded home where the family routinely encountered a tall white figure with red eyes called Whistling Paddy. She recalls hearing its whistling and screaming sounds as a child, while relatives reported seeing it around the home, especially at dusk when it came for vegetable scraps. The family did not generally fear it but brought children inside after dark.

The witness heard whistling and chomping sounds near a creek and looked toward them. A very muscular, hairy, man-like creature was present for about two minutes before walking into the treeline at the creek edge. The witness later returned to the area and found footprints by the creek.

He claims a large hairy female creature picked him up, carried him quickly through the forest, and left him in camp with a heavy branch on his legs where his parents later found him. As a young teenager bringing cows across a canal near dark, the diarist saw a large bear-like figure standing on hind feet by a sapling 600-700 feet away and felt intense chill. Cows were undisturbed and his father was unconcerned. Next morning with his friend [name withheld] he found a huge bare footprint in wet mud under the sapling, estimated 8.5-9 feet tall using [name withheld]'s height, and nearby found a stick-bed with a strong repulsive odor.

A construction crew camped in a Virginia valley in the mid-1930s reported repeated visits by large hairy beings that stole food, left huge footprints, and were seen felling and dragging trees. Early one August morning in 1936 a being reached into a tent and pulled a sleeping worker out by the ankle. Other workers threw hand axes and chased it with rifles and shotguns, firing many shots without killing it, after which sentries were posted day and night.

A very tall hair-covered wild woman was reported riding a taken balance wheel and encountering a peddler with a horse. She allegedly broke the horse's neck with one jerk, rendered the peddler unconscious, and dragged the horse to the woods where bones were later found. Pursuers found huge footprints and piles of rattlesnake skins but did not locate her.
