Late at night four friends walking past a graveyard noticed a very large object resting on a branch in a large tree. After they shone a flashlight at it, the object dropped about twenty feet and ran quickly toward woods behind the graveyard. The witness returned at sunrise and found very large impressions in the grass with a stride neither he nor a taller companion could match, leading him to estimate the creature at seven to nine feet tall.

After noticing paired trails in wet grass and hearing soft splashing from a cypress head, the witness heard a low powerful harrumph-like sound that caused alarm. The witness then took cover behind a dirt mound and watched the area for about an hour without seeing anything leave to the east, west, or south.

The creature is described as 7 to 9 feet tall, walking upright with a slight hunch and running too fast to follow. Up to nine family members in three houses have seen it when arriving, leaving, or moving between houses.

Two bear hunters on foot found three sets of large footprints traveling together in a muddy flat back in the woods. The prints were in a low area filled with rain water and were judged to be fairly recent because the edges lacked degradation. A single plaster cast of the largest print was made within 24 hours, but the cast was poor due to inexperience.

It stood still for about a minute, made a grunt sound, then turned and walked away with an unusual swaggering gait. The pair left the area in reverse, frightened by what they saw.

They reported feeling watched shortly before the find, felt shaken, and left the area quickly with no further incident.
