The witness stepped out of the garage around midnight and noticed a strong musky odor while dogs barked across the road. The next morning the witness found a yard tree limb twisted and split despite calm weather the prior day. The witness searched for footprints and other traces but found none, and cut out the twisted section to keep for study.

The witness and her husband were sitting in their parked car at an overgrown abandoned graveyard at night. She heard branches breaking, felt watched, and noticed a foul odor, then watched a very tall bulky figure standing between pines and swaying side to side for several minutes before leaving. Her companion in the passenger seat did not see the figure, reportedly because of dashboard light glare.

The witness and spouse were preparing to grill in the evening when they noticed an extremely foul dead-like odor. The witness retrieved a gun, then three loud knocks or bangs sounded on the side of the shed. The spouse backed quickly away from the shed and wooded area, and they saw nothing upon looking around.

The witness was playing in woods near home with companions when breaking sticks and sounds of something large approaching were heard through dense undergrowth. Sticks were thrown as the group retreated, and the witness briefly saw a very tall hair-covered biped peering from behind a large tree before running out scared. The initial report of something big was brushed off until similar local reports months later prompted detailed questioning.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

The witness and two companions were deer hunting when they noted an absence of game and a feeling of being watched. Later near a dried marsh they found widely spaced tracks that turned and appeared to run toward cover, accompanied by a strong foul odor. They left the area for town and returned the next morning to photograph the tracks, when game had returned and the odor was gone.

After two relatives reported a roadside figure, the witness joined them and an uncle in a van to spotlight nearby wheat fields the same night. They watched an apelike figure first on all fours that then sat for several minutes before standing on two legs, with two additional sets of eyeshine behind it. The group left to contact authorities, later noted a strong urine-like odor, received a distant bellowing reply to an imitated howl, and searched with a game warden until morning.

The witness was bow hunting and walking a fire trail near dark when he found a large human-shaped footprint and photographed it and the surrounding woods. While photographing he noticed a strong layered odor of sour sweat, decaying flesh and musk. After walking back to his truck after dark, something growled at close range for 1-2 seconds, but a flashlight search revealed nothing and he left to develop the film.

Two companions were hunting deer on a family property near Pine Mountain when they found a footprint and other tracks near a pine overhang, noticed a localized strong skunk-like odor, and saw a pile of fresh acorns with no oak nearby. As they moved uphill using alternating advances, each heard an unrecognized whistle and the sound of a large boulder rolling, with neither attributing the sounds to the other. Both reported a feeling of being followed uphill.

The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.

The mother awoke overnight to a strong animal-like odor and sustained movement sounds in weeds outside her trailer window and retrieved a gun. The odor lingered in the trailer for over an hour. The next morning her daughter visited, heard the account, and found a large flat human-like footprint in mud outside the window, which she measured and photographed, plus reddish hair strands on a nearby tree.
On-going encounters makes rural family cautious
In June 2001 the witness's children discovered large footprints in the field behind the family mobile home and photographed them. About a week later the children heard something running across the hillside while playing at the creek, and the family dog chased it and later returned covered in slime. The children later encountered large rocks rolling toward them on the hill, and the witness heard a loud prolonged growl, with a horrible unidentified odor lingering after the hillside activity.

While deer hunting, the witness found many large tracks and followed them to a hidden hillside spring in a dry area. The water was murky as if recently disturbed, and the witness also found dung with an unusual sweet smell that was collected for testing. No creature was seen, but the witness believed he had just missed it.

The witness and a companion camped in Wayne National Forest over a holiday weekend. After mimicking animal sounds in the evening, the witness stayed awake through the night hearing crashes, footsteps, grunts and mimicking speech, and saw eye shine high off the ground. In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

The witnesses returned late at night to find their tent knocked over with contents spilled. While loading the vehicle to leave, one witness saw a tall brown human-like figure stand up about 15 feet away and walk toward the river. The pair left the area that night and returned the next day to photograph apparent footprints on a hillside.

The witness and a companion heard loud brush movement and limb-breaking sounds at a secluded pond, then smelled a strong unpleasant odor and felt unease. A short time later about a mile away they found a series of five very large footprints in a dried boggy area. They later returned and made a plaster cast and took photos of the prints.

While wading and fishing with two relatives in summer 1980, the witness reported a strong rotten odor followed by sighting of a tall hairy figure standing in brush on the creek bank. The figure, visible from the waist up, turned its head to look at the group, after which all three left the creek and walked to their car. The father reportedly identified it aloud as Bigfoot.

Three teenagers walked down a dirt road at night to take time-exposure photos of stars away from house lights. They noticed a strong foul odor and an unusual silence, became frightened, and ran back to the house. The next morning they returned and found an area of flattened brush and a very large footprint in damp soil nearby, which they photographed in black-and-white before having to leave.

The guest relayed his father's account of a night when the family was home while the grandfather was away hauling freight. After a foul odor and prolonged barking by the guard dog, a long loud vocalization was heard, the dog was apparently dragged from under the chicken-coop camper, and three household members separately reported red eyes staring through windows. By morning the dog was dead and mutilated, all chickens were gone with feathers and footprints scattered, and the coop hatch had been opened from underneath.
