Investigator finds 8 inch diameter sapling snapped in two, 6 feet from ground
An investigator spent the morning searching fields, a cemetery, and surrounding woods after hearing about a recent local sighting. Rain had washed away possible tracks and the ground was hard, so no footprints were found. In the woods at the cemetery edge the investigator found a fresh snapped sapling and photographed it. The investigator also spoke with nearby residents, including a child who relayed a mother's nighttime driveway encounter, but no creature was seen during the visit.

The witness was driving home from work at night when headlights revealed an upright figure standing in the road ahead. The figure briefly turned its head toward the car, then ran across the road on two legs with long hopping strides and disappeared into the woods. The witness, who hunts locally, said it was not a bear or other familiar animal.
Hunter has daytime sighting near Shocco Creek
The witness was hunting alone in a forested creek bottom when a bedded deer flushed into tall reeds. From higher ground above the reeds he saw a tall dark mottled figure moving upright across the creek about 50 yards away. The figure turned to look at him, showing a hump on its back, then pushed swiftly through dense vegetation without dodging. The witness left the area and later confirmed no other hunters or vehicles were nearby.
Memory told of a possible daytime sighting while hunting geese outside Carlisle
The witness and a relative were hunting geese from a concealed blind in a harvested field when they noticed movement to the east. They observed a tall black figure in side profile walking very fast while stooped over, heading north toward a gravel pit until it left their line of sight. They walked to the area afterward but found no tracks, noting the ground was frozen and the figure had been on a gravel road.

In spring 1981 the witness and a companion were stopped in a car on a rural road at night with headlights on. A very large gray-haired bipedal creature emerged from bushes about 15 yards ahead, paused to look at them, then crossed the road and continued up a hill into the woods. In August 1977 the witness was walking along Waterloo Road at night after missing a ride and trying to hitchhike. He heard something moving through the woods alongside the road that sounded bipedal and kept pace with him, running when he ran and walking when he walked, for about a mile. The night was very dark and he never saw the source, eventually getting a ride near houses.

Over two-week periods in 1992 and 1993, the witness repeatedly heard loud nighttime sounds near a lakeside cabin, described as whistling, chattering, screams and deep thumping lasting one to four minutes. The sounds seemed to move quickly from a mountaintop to the road area about 200 feet away, possibly involving two callers. The witness looked out with a flashlight but saw nothing and remained inside out of fear.

A couple hiking down a mountain road at dusk heard a large unseen presence moving through the woods beside the road. The sounds matched their movements, stopping when they stopped, and continued alongside them for an hour or more as they descended. They spoke loudly to try to scare it away and judged from the loud crunching steps that it was very large and not a deer.
