Late at night while driving to help a friend, the witness saw what first looked like logs on the roadside. On closer approach it appeared as a dark hair-covered figure seen from behind, which stepped easily over a roadside railing and went down into the woods toward power lines. The next day footprints at the spot were cast during a site visit with a local researcher.

The creature ran across the two-lane road upright on two legs with arms swinging, crossing in a few strides. The witness estimated it at 4 to 5 feet tall and 150 to 200 pounds and said it did not match any known animal like bear, coyote, or fox.

In spring 1981 the witness and a companion were stopped in a car on a rural road at night with headlights on. A very large gray-haired bipedal creature emerged from bushes about 15 yards ahead, paused to look at them, then crossed the road and continued up a hill into the woods. The companion locked the doors and did not want to follow on foot.
