Two rock climbers hear wood knocks and footsteps in the early morning at a trailhead
Two hikers arrived at a trailhead in the early morning to climb and heard knocks from uphill and downhill, followed by stick-breaking sounds like footsteps. They knocked back and received responses, filmed the exchange, then heard further knocks and repetitive rock-on-tree tapping as they started up the trail. They saw nothing in the dense woods and eventually left.

The witness and a companion stopped off a forest road so the witness could target shoot while the companion waited at the truck. After the witness returned to the road, both heard repeated very loud cracking snaps from a wooded hilltop about 100 yards away, spaced about 30 seconds apart, along with movement and bark-ripping sounds. The witness walked partway up the hill filming with a cell phone and captured at least one loud crack before returning to the truck and leaving.

Six people hiked up a forest road at night to revisit the witness's prior sighting area. After making knocks and whoop calls, they reported hearing a return knock, whoops, a guttural grumble and a moan, and seeing multiple eye-shines. Later in a quarry area they reported watching a human-like figure in night-vision goggles that crouched when noticed, followed by a rock thrown nearby, after which they left.

The witness and companions drove to a forest road at night and stopped in the vehicle to look around. They reported hearing howls, a whoop and slow knocks, then seeing at least eight pairs of eye shine positioned around the vehicle. The driver then left the area, and the group planned to return with recording equipment.
Daylight encounter while hiking on the Tulalip Indian Reservation
The witness was hiking on a logging road after riding a bike when they heard a branch snap, brush crashing, and a loud strike like wood on wood. A rock was then thrown from bushes, and the witness saw a hand and a muscular, dark brown, approximately 6-foot figure facing away with a V-shaped tuft of hair on top. The witness shouted at the figure, which remained still facing away, then left the area the way they came.
Loud roars and screams heard from an unknown animal near Stanwood
On a warm summer evening at dusk in 2000, the witness was with two dogs at the edge of a forested ravine on the property. For about 10-15 minutes the witness heard something large moving through dense brush, branches snapping, and continuous loud roars and screams that continued despite yelling. The dogs stayed beside the witness and would not investigate, and the witness then went inside for the night.

Possible wood knocks heard while staying at Wallace Falls State Park
The witness was staying overnight in a cabin and was awakened about 2 a.m. by distant dogs barking. He then heard groups of three to four wood knocks in quick succession, repeated several times over two to three minutes from a wooded area a few hundred yards away. He reported hearing no other wildlife that night.
