The witness was camping alone with his dog and stepped outside the tent around 1:30 a.m. He heard a very loud siren-like sound lasting several seconds, immediately followed by three whoops from about 70 feet away inside the treeline. He scanned with a flashlight, heard nothing further, and returned to the tent with his dog, which had stared fixedly toward the sound.

A very loud, sustained howl rising from low to high pitch was heard at very close range, ending in a hoop-like sound, followed by silence. No visual contact was reported. The next day witnesses found a freshly broken/twisted sapling and barefoot-like prints of multiple sizes in a sandy area and made casts of tracks.
