Nighttime sighting near Sunset Lake west of Girard
The witness was driving home at night when a tall bipedal animal crossed in front of the vehicle and went into the woods across from the house. The animal was described as 7 to 8 feet tall and muscular, covered in matted burgundy to brick-red hair about 4 inches long, with a grayish pale face whose features could not be discerned. The witness thought it might have been scavenging fish along a nearby lake bank.
Motorist has possible nighttime sighting near Hagaman Bottoms
The witness was driving home from work in the late afternoon when they saw an upright figure cross the highway ahead and continue north. By the time the witness reached the crossing point, the figure was no longer visible. The witness described this as their second sighting in the Hagaman Bottoms area.
Large shaggy creature crosses road behind girls walking at night near Carlinville
In September 1992 the witness and three companions were walking around a lake at night when a tall hairy biped crossed the road very close behind them. The witness and a sister saw it, screamed, and the group ran back to the house where they stayed awake fearfully the rest of the night. The height was later revised from about 13 feet to eight to nine feet, with shaggy dark hair and a husky build described.
