The witness was driving along a road overlooking a lake in daylight when she noticed a tall black figure moving easily up a steep snow-covered hillside. The figure crossed a driveway between wooded areas toward distant power lines, slouching and swinging its arms, with no hat, clothing, or snowshoes and a head that appeared to sit directly on its shoulders. The observation lasted a few minutes as the car moved, with the dark figure standing out against snow and sunlight. The witness first thought it was a man but concluded a man could not have walked that slope in deep snow so easily.

Frightened, he ran to his parents, and a relative and a companion went outside and found oversized footprints that they followed by car across a plowed field until the tracks led uphill toward the forest and disappeared.
