The witness was traveling along a road around 11 a.m. in clear, cool conditions and reported seeing a tall, thin, hair-covered figure standing off to the side of nearby railroad tracks. The witness described the figure as very tall but reported no facial details. An investigator later met the witness and visited the location, recording estimates of about seven feet tall, slender build, black hair, about 200 pounds, and about 250 feet observation distance.

The figure stepped from the road into the forest and was gone when they looked for a person or vehicle nearby. The witness returned about an hour later to search for tracks but found none because the ground was dry and hard.

The witness and a companion were elk hunting on foot in fresh snow in the morning. The witness was using an elk call when a large dark figure was seen standing across a clearcut, watching for about 30 seconds before turning with a distinctive upper-body swing and walking uphill into dense aspen. In the early afternoon the witness hiked from one high mountain lake toward nearby Lost Lake. Near a boulder about 20 yards away the witness saw a large hairy biped that crouched, looked toward the lake and the witness, then stood and walked briskly into trees out of earshot. The witness estimated the encounter lasted 8 to 12 seconds and then left the area quickly without following.

Four young men drove late at night to find a reputedly haunted mansion and nearby infant grave. Two of them approached an iron-gated house that appeared well-kept and spoke with a very old woman in historic clothing who held a candle and gave directions using wagon trails. After hearing loud infant crying at the grave site, they drove past the house again and found it dilapidated and overgrown, though the woman with the candle could still be seen inside. The group fled and never discussed the night together again.

They estimated it stood about 7 to 8 feet tall and noted it had very large eyes.
