Around 12:37 a.m. the witness was driving on Route 8 when a tall dark-furred creature carrying a deer ran into the roadway. The front passenger corner of the car struck the creature, which then slid down the length of the vehicle causing extensive damage from hood to rear. The frightened witness did not stop and continued driving.

The witness and her husband were driving home on a rainy night when their headlights illuminated a creature standing in the middle of the road. The creature crossed the road in one step and disappeared into roadside brush without looking at the car. Both occupants witnessed it and talked about it for days.
Youths have daylight sighting near Westfield
When the witness was thirteen, he and a companion were riding bicycles near abandoned railroad tracks when a small maple tree crashed down. The companion left immediately while the witness saw a very tall, hairy animal standing by the tree about ninety feet away and staring for a couple minutes. When the animal started walking toward him on two feet, the witness fled home by bicycle.
