During day trip to mountains, couple hear branch breaks, rocks thrown while repairing vehicle, near Coquille
The witness and two companions stopped at a creek bridge to get water for an overheating vehicle. While attempting to collect water with a cup on a string, they heard movement on the steep hillside and had small stones and then a large rock thrown toward them from uphill. They left quickly without seeing what threw the rocks.
Early evening close encounter near Bandon by mushroom hunters leaving the forest
The witness was picking mushrooms while cattle behind him acted spooked for hours. After hiking to the road at night, a tall hairy biped ran toward him, stopped about 100 feet away breathing heavily, then bounded across the road and brush without an audible landing. The witness then heard chattering sounds surrounding him while walking out.
Several tracks found near County dump for Bandon
The witness explored a clearcut in Coos County Forest looking for hiking routes and found a bare footprint larger than his boot with visible toes. After rain washed the area, he returned and found additional larger and smaller impressions with a roughly six-foot stride, and later found similar long impressions on harder ground nearby. On a return visit he also heard repeated short whistle-like sounds receding from the creek area but saw no source.
Sighting by two young men on motorcycles
While riding motorcycles, two people stopped to rest and noticed a large bipedal figure across a valley. They watched it stand, move about on two feet, and then sit on a stump. They did not approach it and left the area.
Daytime sightings by hunters near Headwaters Ridge in Elliot State Forest
On the fourth day of an elk hunt, the witness stopped on a ridgeline trail and watched a large upright brown figure across a ravine. The figure walked on two legs, then sat on a downed alder with its back to the witness, swinging its legs and appearing to pick foliage for about 30 minutes while the witness watched through binoculars and a rifle scope and whistled to get its attention. The witness then left up the ridge without approaching and rejoined the hunting party at the vehicles.
Large Bipedal Animal Seen Crossing Rural Road and Climbing Cutbank
In early-morning darkness and light rain the witness was driving a paper route near Arago when a large reddish-brown long-haired animal crossed the road and scaled a steep grassy roadcut within about 15 feet of the truck. The animal moved very fast with rear legs set wide apart and spine not flexing like a bear, using its front limbs hand-over-hand, showing broad shoulders, a flat-profile face and a part in the wet hair along its spine. It reached the top in seconds and went out of sight.
Witness recalls face to face encounter with creature near Myrtle Point
In 1971 the witness was alone watching TV at the parents' rural house near Myrtle Point. After hearing dogs bark, smelling a strong foul odor, and hearing footsteps on an outside plank, she saw a tall hunched hairy female figure pass a glass door. The figure stopped, turned toward her and made eye contact, after which she fainted and was later found on the floor by her parents. Her father searched outside with a flashlight but found nothing.
One audible and two visual, early evening encounters by a coastal witness near the North Fork of the Coquille River
When the witness was a child living in a remote wooded valley, pounding on wood drew a sibling indoors and the family went outside to listen. From the driveway they heard loud guttural roaring together with continued pounding for several minutes on a clear calm evening. The sounds eventually stopped and the family went back inside, leaving the witness frightened.

In 1904 near Sixes miners reported a wild man seen three times in three weeks. Two men heard something walk around and shake their cabin corner, heard a frightful noise, saw it walk away, shot and missed. Later a similar visit at dawn ended with the creature hurling a four-pound rock after being shot at.

Miners reported a seven-foot hairy wild man repeatedly shaking cabins at night and making frightful noise. Shots failed to stop it. On one morning it shook a door, was shot at, and retaliated by throwing a four-pound rock before vanishing.
