Bow hunter hears possible vocalizations in the Camp Blanding Wildlife Management Area
After a morning of archery hunting, the witness was walking toward his truck when he heard very loud guttural vocalizations lasting about two minutes. He described repeated growls, grunts and howls that he had never heard in 40 years of hunting and that unsettled him. There was no visual sighting of the source.

The witness woke to barking dogs in the morning and went outside to calm them. From woods across the road and a vacant lot, the witness heard loud deep growling, howls, and repeated knocking sounds like a bat hitting a tree. The sounds included quieter growling afterward and then stopped, and the witness went back inside where nothing further was heard.

The witness walked to and waited at a bus stop around 6:15 when loud howling, screams and growls were heard repeatedly over several minutes from a large wooded area about 100 meters away. Neighborhood dogs reacted strongly and some ran into the woods where rustling was heard. The witness was frightened by the sounds and then boarded the bus.

Two people hiking in the woods heard several wood-on-wood knocks spaced seconds apart. A minute or two later they heard a loud, long drawn-out cry lasting several seconds from within a mile. They stopped and listened briefly, then left the area.
