Hikers find footprints, possible nest and hear wood knocks mid-day near Coolin
A group of six hikers on the second day of a trek along Lion Creek found large footprints at a pressed-down nest site with a strong musty odor. After leaving the site they heard three tree knocks from shifting locations and sticks breaking. Follow-up documented nest size, track spacing and depth, and track photos.

Rock banging, footprints and strange stripped tree on high mountain ranch near Sandpoint
The witness was working alone with a guard dog in a forest clearing being cleared for a runway when, after shutting down machinery, two series of very loud rock-banging sounds came from the shadowed tree line. The dog stayed alert but would not approach, and the witness felt watched and left without seeing the source. Weeks later he found very large deep footprints pointing toward the sound location.
