After dark with snow on the ground, while driving out for dinner, the witness stopped in the woods, struck a tree with a sledgehammer to make a low thump, and moments later got a reply knock from down the ravine. He joked it must be a redneck waiting to reply.

While the first witness was upslope, the other two hunters several hundred yards away along the same ravine heard whoops, loud rapid tree knocks, owls that turned into chicken and pig sounds, rock clacking replies, and large limbs popping in mature pines. They joked about the sounds at the time as bored owls and dismissed them. They later interpreted them as intelligent mimicry and communication coming up out of the ravine.

While hunting turkey alone along a driveway, the witness stalked what looked like a turkey to a ravine shelf, felt watched, then turned and saw a tall reddish-brown upright blur retreat very close behind him. He could not explain it as deer or bird because it made no noise. He moved to the open driveway and then heard extremely loud rapid tree knocks.

On a cold snowy morning the witness was sitting inside a fourth-floor residence when turkeys and deer moved down a hill. Less than five minutes later he saw a large hairy animal near the top of the hill. The animal moved on all fours, then stood partially erect and ran on two feet into the forest, observed for about seven seconds from about 150 feet.

The witness was sitting outside at night talking on the phone when she heard movement in nearby woods and then noticed a strange odor. She looked up and saw a very large, hair-covered figure standing in a field about 30 feet away. Frightened, she ran inside and locked the doors, and a family member found nothing that night with a flashlight. The next morning she and a relative found flattened grass, clearings, and tracks leading into the woods but were too frightened to follow them.

The witness and a relative were at their workplace near forest and a creek when the relative called the witness to the back door. They watched a large black hairy bipedal creature run very fast down a hill toward the woods. The sighting lasted about ten seconds from about two hundred feet away.

The witness settled into a treestand before dawn to deer hunt. After hearing wood-on-wood knocks and then bipedal footsteps approaching along the ridge top, the witness watched a large dark hair-covered figure at sunrise for about 15 seconds before it covered the distance in three strides into dense vegetation.

Late at night in September 1997, the witness was smoking on a back porch when a high-pitched screech was heard from a neighboring yard. The witness then saw a very tall white human-like form running through that yard with its head turned toward them. The form ran into nearby woods and running sounds continued for several seconds before the witness went inside.

Late one morning in November 1988, the witness was preparing for deer hunting at the base of a steep wooded hill before dawn when he heard a noise in a nearby thicket. A very large, broad humanoid shape rose up and quickly ran across a clearing and up the steep hillside out of sight in seconds. The witness waited until daylight, then hunted from his stand the rest of the day, noting the woods were unusually quiet.

Two companions sitting on a pipeline corridor heard alternating bird-like calls and wood-knock sounds for about 20 minutes that grew louder and seemed to come from very close by. When they stood to look, they saw a tall grey-haired animal about 20-30 yards away staring at them. Both the witnesses and the animal immediately fled, with the animal crashing in a straight line uphill through the woods.

Two companions hiking on the floor of a hollow came upon a brown hair-covered shape about 10 feet away near a deadfall. The shape stood to about seven and a half feet tall and ran away bipedally through brush toward a road while the witnesses fled uphill out of the woods. A return visit days later found a large matted clear spot but no footprints or hoofprints.

The night after Christmas the witness watched from a gas well across the valley as dozens of small pin lights moved along the ridge and dropped into the valley. Later from the truck near the first sighting area he watched a beach-ball-size bluish light and then a basketball-size yellow-orange light move intelligently six to ten feet off the ground around trees, pause at the ravine edge, and drop over, casting almost no light despite brightness. Companions asleep in the truck did not see them.

On another weekend the witness was leaning back on a four-wheeler with a rifle across his lap near the ravine edge when he heard close rock clacking ahead. Then from about fifty feet behind him in the forest came an extremely loud escalating bark-growl-roar that shook the vehicle and his body. A younger companion walking the ravine edge within fifty yards reportedly did not hear it at all.

On another weekend on opening morning of rifle season, the witness was in a tree stand near the first encounter spot at false dawn feeling emotional about a friend. He heard a very close rapid tree knock like an alarm, close enough that he felt he should see the source, but blurred vision prevented seeing anything.

After the initial encounter the witnesses explored a hidden bench on the hillside and found what they described as clear tree structures, including a three to four inch sapling wrapped and bent around another tree with broken branches and sticks pushed in. They felt it could not be natural and required hands and thought.

On returning the next weekend, the witnesses found a large rotten log about 12-14 feet long wedged three feet off the ground between two trees across the only driven part of the driveway like a gate. No stump or treetop was found nearby, and it was too heavy to lift with a tractor loader, so the farmer cut it out. They felt it had been placed.

On driving into the hilltop camp at night, the witness shone a spotlight across a pasture and saw two huge red eyeshine like taillights up in a tree. When he flicked the light to a bedded deer and back, the red shine was gone. At the time they dismissed it as two owls together.
