The morning after dogs repeatedly barked toward the woods overnight, a resident found fence wires pulled down and a large print in sandy soil near the fence. He searched downhill and found a second similar print on a creek sandbar. The family reported the finds, and investigators visited that afternoon and measured both prints.

While scouting for deer season, the witness found fresh barefoot-like tracks going through deep mud, briars and a mud swamp instead of the dry trail. The tracks were narrow, deep, long-toed with an apparent left-foot injury, and had a long stride. The witness followed the trackway from the lake inlet across the swamp for about 700 yards until it was lost on dry ground in the forest.

The witness and two companions were staying overnight where they were working on building a cabin in the summer of 1999. Around 2 AM they were all awakened by a series of very loud screams they could not identify at the time. The witness later listened to scream recordings on a website and became convinced they matched what the group heard, an assessment the companions reportedly shared.

The witness was driving in the morning when they noticed a large hair-covered man-like figure standing at the edge of the woods about 50 feet away. The figure first moved backwards with small steps, then turned and walked deeper into the woods until it could no longer be seen. The witness estimated its height from nearby pine trees at upper six feet to near seven feet with very broad shoulders.

The witness was sleeping at a relative's house near Wayne National Forest in late November 1998 and awoke around 2:23 a.m. to hollow thudding like a branch or log struck against a tree trunk. The knocks came from a draw below the house and from farther away in alternating exchanges at regular intervals for about 20 minutes, with locations shifting but never converging. The witness stayed inside, saw nothing, and interpreted the sounds as deliberate communication, discounting animals, falling branches, or humans.

A loud impact-like bang was heard, followed by three or four loud yells described as non-human and unlike a house pet, seemingly coming from woods behind the apartment complex near railroad tracks. The witness felt the yells resembled descriptions of a possible Bigfoot yell heard at a seminar.

At dusk after standing to retrieve game, the nearby brush erupted with loud crashing and a loud scream, and the witness shouted back reflexively. The witness then walked toward the barn with rifle ready while snapping sounds followed in the brush until fading near the barn.
