The witness and a relative awoke before dawn to leave home and heard a loud eerie cry from the direction of a creek and reservoirs. The sound silenced birds and triggered intense barking from many dogs in the area. The relative, described as an experienced hunter, had never heard such a sound. Years later the witness heard a recorded scream that they felt matched what they had heard.
