A group setting up an elk hunting camp found large footprints in deep snow. The writer joined in following the trackway down below the snow level. The tracks were very large with very long strides and led away from camp.

Years later after watching television programs, the witness concluded the sounds were likely made by a bigfoot.

A family group of six was inside a large tent at night during a thunderstorm when they smelled an overpowering odor and heard loud screaming approach. An adult companion left the tent, apparently confronted the creature amid scuffling and growling, then returned pale and blocked the zipper until dawn when the group left.

He left to find a ranger station and returned with a ranger who photographed the site, after which both described themselves as becoming believers.

The witness was walking alone on a spring morning near Scenic, Washington when an extremely loud sound was heard three times from about half a block away near old railroad bunkhouses. The sound was described as starting like a roar and rising to a shrill pitch, repeated with short pauses. The witness did not see the source and could not identify it as any known local animal.

The witness was sleeping in a tent with other campers during a Girl Scout overnight stay when she was awakened by something pressing on the tent and making grunting sounds. The other occupants screamed, camp leaders said everyone was accounted for, and an unrecognized funky odor was noticed.

In summer 1970 the witness parked at a Stone State Park overlook at night with three companions. While he lay on a blanket with his date near bushes, a very loud scream erupted from very close by. While fishing from a boat near shore, the witness smelled a strong musky odor for several minutes, then spotted a tall hair-covered figure partly hidden behind a short tree at the treeline. The figure remained still for a couple minutes, then stood, stepped into the open to look at the boat, and walked slowly uphill into denser forest. A companion in the boat also smelled the odor but did not see the figure.

The witness, then a child home sick on a couch, awoke in the middle of the night to the outside dog whining. Looking out the living-room window, the witness saw a large dark silhouette filling the window width and standing silently looking in. The figure was described as taller than six feet, with several inches of moonlit sky visible above its head, and showed no discernible features or movement.

The witness and a companion hiked about five miles up a creek to fish and felt they were being watched as the forest went unusually quiet. During an afternoon thunderstorm a lightning strike hit across the creek, after which they heard a growling or grunting sound and branches breaking high in trees moving rapidly up the creek and mountain out of hearing. The witness briefly saw a large shadow moving in the woods but nothing conclusive, and they could not search for prints because a fire from the strike caused evacuation.

The witness estimated the screams came from within a few hundred yards, with no nearby houses.
