The witness was walking cross-country between two lakes when a loud two-tone whistle came from ground level behind to the left. The witness called out, whistled back, and searched the thick brush to within about 10 feet of the source but saw no people, animals, or birds. The source of the sound remained unidentified.

While camping on an island during a multi-day canoe trip, the witness and a companion heard a distant crying-like sound that grew louder and became high-pitched growling as something paced on the opposite shore after dark. In summer 1983 a camp leader took an assistant and nine boys on an overnight hike on Tet Ridge. During the afternoon hike they repeatedly glimpsed a large black figure at a distance and found very large tracks and broken branches high above the ground. That night at a near-summit camp the group heard multiple loud roars and stayed awake by the fire, also hearing movement below. They found no further sign on the hike out and agreed not to tell others.

A loud, powerful, unfamiliar call came from across the sink, described as starting like a deep growl and growing in volume and tone. In pitch darkness he heard an extremely loud, high-pitched scream from about 20 to 30 feet directly ahead, followed by loud crashing as the unseen source moved rapidly downhill toward a lake. He fled home at full speed and never saw what made the sounds.

They then heard something circling the platform in dense underbrush with loud footsteps and deep grunting while the surrounding woods went silent.
