The witness was deer hunting alone on a snowy mountaintop where he planned to spend the night. He followed large human-like tracks in deep snow and found they were bare footprints with clear toes. Frightened, he left immediately, later noting more tracks and a small snapped-off pine surrounded by circling tracks on his way down.

Fresh bare footprints with clearly visible toe prints in about one foot of snow, with stride too wide for witness to step into comfortably.
Measurements: snow about 1 foot deep; foot about 15 inches
Follow-up recording of footprint size and stride difficulty.
Measurements: fourteen inches long and six inches wide
Small pine about 3 inches in diameter snapped off about 2 feet above ground and tossed aside, with tracks circling it many times packing snow down.

An investigator spoke with the witness by phone and recorded footprint dimensions and stride details.
