She heard a low grunting or growling sound and then saw a pair of slanted eyes and a hairy head staring at her from a few feet away in the dark. She watched the motionless figure for an estimated ten minutes. Police arrived hours later on foot and found nothing.

The witness was horseback riding on a pine-forest trail with her mother when her horse tensed and bolted. She turned and saw a tall, dark, upright figure behind a log that then ran toward a field. The witness was driving down an on-ramp to Interstate 59 at Exit 166 toward Birmingham in the afternoon when she noticed a figure beside the trees. She described huge green eyes, a visible shoulder, and an arm leaning on a tree, estimating the figure at 6 to 8 feet tall with dark gray-black coloring. The figure stayed behind the tree without moving and was seen only for a few seconds as she drove past.

After a brief check with a night-vision scope that revealed nothing, the witness looked again and saw the upper portion of a tall, hairy, human-like figure walking toward the creek past tall berry bushes. The figure was backlit by a neighboring porch light, showing a large rounded head on very large rounded shoulders with little neck.

The witness was driving slowly westbound on I-84 in fog and snow when they passed a large, dark, shaggy creature sitting or leaning against the guardrail beside the lane. The creature appeared to watch traffic pass, turning its head from side to side, with snow streaked on its long hair or fur-like coat. The witness saw no stalled vehicles or reason for a person to be in that isolated, steep, cold location and later wondered if it could have been Sasquatch.

Two deer hunters walking a creek bottom heard movement paralleling them on a deer trail, then saw a figure moving bipedally through the woods about 60 yards away. They watched it cross the creek, climb the banks, and run along a power line into pines where the sounds eventually stopped. They tried to backtrack it but lost sign beyond a farm pond.

The witness was traveling on a road late at night with a companion slightly behind. Near a forested area, something very large and fast ran out in front of the witness on two legs, with one hand held forward and apparently carrying something in the other. Conditions were very dark with light fog and drizzle.

While hunting deer alone in the morning, the witness heard repeated sounds like logs or poles being thrown, then found a tree with bark removed, a large packed bed, a human-like track, and unfamiliar scat. After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.

While camping alone in a tent on a hunting trip, the witness heard unidentified calls over about an hour and later was awakened by movement and shaking of the tent. The witness noticed the tent had been lifted and saw a shadow pass by, then illuminated a large dark human-like figure about 20 yards away that turned and ran into the brush. The witness kept lights on until sunrise and packed up and left the next morning.

In late summer 2002 the witness was walking alone on a logged ridge in the early evening and heard a tree fall nearby. Shortly after, the witness saw a very large brown figure lope between trees on the ridge, perceiving only an arm and leg and no head. Days later the witness returned and judged from the tree positions that the figure would have been seven to eight feet tall if human.

Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Both girls fled back to their group in tears and left the area immediately.

Two companions were camping overnight on a fishing trip near Sullivan Lake when they were awakened by a distant crash and a musty odor. A second, louder crash close to camp was followed by a grunt, and the narrator saw a tall gray-furred shape through the tent mesh that fled when lit by a flashlight. Both spent the rest of the night in the truck and left the area the next day.

The witness was on a walk in woods near a creek below her property and sat on a natural log bridge. She twice viewed through binoculars a brown, hairy, bipedal creature about 50 to 75 yards away that appeared frozen mid-stride in a bent-over stance staring toward her, then could not find it on a third look. She heard nothing further, waited some time, and continued her walk about ten minutes later without further incident.

The witness initially considered a bear but rejected that idea because the figure lacked bear-like ears and a snout.
