Kayakers report camp intimidation all night long on Lower Buffalo River
Two campers floating and fishing the Lower Buffalo River heard loud monkey-like vocalizations from the bank and later camped on a gravel bar. Through the night they reported repeated wood knocks, yells, chatter, whistles, a tree snap, and cantaloupe-sized rocks landing in the river from the ridge across from camp. They lit the camp, kept fire watch in shifts, and at dawn packed and paddled out after a final rock fell in front of them.
Three fisherman hear thrashing about and loud vocalizations
Three people fishing from a boat along a densely vegetated shoreline heard rustling and thrashing suggesting a very large animal nearby. They then heard a very loud, chilling shrill that frightened them, prompting them to leave quickly. As they left, they continued to hear the animal moving rapidly through dense woods uphill and repeating the shrill at intervals until it was roughly a quarter to half mile away.
Vocalizations heard on remote piece of Arkansas property
The witness was building a shack on remote forested property and stepped onto the deck around 8 p.m. A loud, grating scream came from a ridge about 300 yards away in direct line of sight but in darkness. Startled, the witness went to the truck and found the dog curled and shaking violently enough to shake the truck, then left immediately.
Loud screams menace hunters along Mississippi River around 4:00 am
The witness and a relative arrived before dawn for turkey hunting in river-bottom woods and swamp. While walking in darkness they heard a loud scream nearby, then heard it again and later several more times over a couple hours, feeling the source was following them. They waited until sunrise, moved a short distance, then left the area and did not return. Neither person saw the source and they reported no tracks or sign.
