The witness and a companion were camping at an isolated lake over a long weekend. On Saturday morning they began hearing very loud guttural scream-growls that seemed to warn them away from certain areas, including the path to the lake, and the sounds continued into Sunday. Overnight they heard cooking gear clanging and a heavy thump like logs dumped beside their trailer, but in the morning the gear was largely in place and no logs were found, and the companion also reported a strong putrid smell.

Late at night the witness lay in bed and heard repeated moaning-howl sounds from outside through a partly open window. After looking from a lit front window without seeing anything, the witness went to a parent's back bedroom where the sound was still clearly audible. A short time later the witness returned with a brighter light and companions, saw the blinking eyes again in woods beside the house, then heard movement and a throaty howl as it left.

The witness was bowhunting from a treestand just after dark when he heard several loud howls followed by a scream from several hundred yards down the valley. Unable to recognize the sounds despite extensive hunting experience, he quickly left the tree and took a logging road by ATV about 3.5 miles back to camp.

The witness was outside a remote cottage watching a total lunar eclipse late at night when two extremely loud scream-like howls were heard at very close range. The sound was described as starting as a wolf-like howl and shifting to an immense roar, with apparent rapid movement from about 100 yards away to about 25 yards within seconds. No animal was seen, and the volume suggested a large animal to the witness.

In the morning he searched and found only elk and no unusual sign before packing out as weather turned.

The screams lasted 20-25 minutes total, fading to the east with a similar sound from the south, followed by coyotes howling.

A couple picnicking by a creek at dusk heard a loud howl from downstream with gibberish-like barking between howls, then an answering howl from the ridge behind them. Cattle downstream moved upstream away from the sound. They left at dark, drove downstream toward the first howl location, saw a buck fleeing the creek bottom, and found no people at creek access areas.
