In June 2001 the witness's children discovered large footprints in the field behind the family mobile home and photographed them. About a week later the children heard something running across the hillside while playing at the creek, and the family dog chased it and later returned covered in slime. The children later encountered large rocks rolling toward them on the hill, and the witness heard a loud prolonged growl, with a horrible unidentified odor lingering after the hillside activity.

Two companions grouse hunting in a wooded gorge heard loud screaming-growl vocalizations from about 30 yards away in dense cover. The source moved around them with audible footsteps in snow and breaking branches, seeming to flank them and get behind them. After a spooked cow moose ran through a distant saddle, he threw rocks and fired a shot with no response and then left.

On a warm summer evening at dusk in 2000, the witness was with two dogs at the edge of a forested ravine on the property. For about 10-15 minutes the witness heard something large moving through dense brush, branches snapping, and continuous loud roars and screams that continued despite yelling. The dogs stayed beside the witness and would not investigate, and the witness then went inside for the night.

The witness and a relative camped at Rockbound Lake in Desolation Wilderness. Late at night they heard three very loud high-pitched screams from across the lake. Just before dawn the next morning they heard a series of very loud roars from multiple directions around the lake, including one very close behind camp, then searched the area but saw nothing.

Late at night the witness ran into her yard ringing a bell and yelling to chase coyotes away from her cats, when something in the darkness growled back at her. She retrieved her truck and aimed its headlights into shrubs by the driveway, revealing a gray long-haired animal. It jumped a barbed-wire fence and ran on all fours through tall grass as she followed by truck before it veered toward a creek and disappeared.

The witness was staying alone in a trailer and went uphill to check what triggered a house motion light. He reports seeing a giant upright human-like silhouette near the house that made a loud howl/scream/growl directed at him before turning toward the forest. Four people in a house heard very loud deep shrieks from beyond the backyard tree line at night. Two of them went onto the patio with a rifle and flashlight; when the light was pointed at the treeline the shrieks stopped and something was heard moving away through the woods while grunting deeply. The next day the witness followed a wide trail of fresh tree damage through the woods for about two hours.

Three boys holding a late-night bonfire heard loud screams that seemed to move around the yard from west to north to east. The sounds started high-pitched and dropped into a low growl, frightening the boys so they ran inside. The witness, awakened afterward, went outside with a light but found no source, and a morning search also found nothing.

Two adults accompanied by two small children hiked to a cave mouth at night and then started back toward camp. About a tenth of a mile from the cave they heard a low 5 to 6 second moan or howl from behind and to the right, followed by a more distant dog bark and shorter deep grunt-like noises. They lifted the children onto their shoulders and hurried back without hearing further sounds.

The witness and a relative were waiting in dense brush while bugling for elk when they heard approaching knocking, rustling and vocal sounds and noticed a strong unpleasant odor. They left the hiding spot as crashing sounds followed them uphill. Other members of the hunting party later said they had seen a figure walking on the hill where the pair had not been. The group later returned to the site and found unusual scat.

The witness hiked to a deer stand while hearing repeated groups of clicking sounds for about 45 minutes but could not locate the source on the ridge. While walking back out of the woods, the witness heard something large approach and stop behind them. The unseen source then made a very loud close grunt and, after the witness chambered a round, a loud guttural scream/grunt. The witness never saw the source.
