Two riders got their bike and 4-wheeler stuck in a pit in a reclaimed strip mine. While working to free them they saw a large brown figure walking along the top of the highwall, crouch down behind a tree and watch them. After about an hour it stood and walked away the way it came, and the riders later left the same direction.

While hunting alone along railroad tracks in late fall, the witness heard rustling and then footsteps paralleling his movement through the woods. The source kept pace at a distance, stopping when he stopped and moving when he moved, with heavy footfalls and loud branch breaking. It followed him to the edge of an open field near his parked truck. He never saw the source and called out without reply.

The witness and a companion were waiting on a riverbank at night to help pull rescue canoes from the water. After hearing brush-breaking and grunting sounds for some time, the witness was rushed by a large upright figure that came within about 10 feet while making loud vocalizations. In 1982 three companions were fishing along a river when they noticed an absence of birds and wildlife and a feeling of being watched. They then observed a figure watching them from a wooded ridge 50 to 75 yards away for about 45 minutes. When they left, the figure followed them at a distance as they walked about a mile back to the truck, during which they also noticed a faint dead-like smell.

Two companions fishing at a mountain lake got off the trail in thick brush on a very dark stormy night and noticed bright green eyes watching them from well above ground level. The figure with the eyes followed them to the lakeshore and then to their truck, staying in the trees and staring without sound or movement even when they charged toward it yelling. They backed away slowly, freed their stuck truck, and drove home, telling no one for years.

All three then listened for an extended period as something heavy circled their camp across the creek with steady bipedal-sounding steps and breaking sticks while staying beyond the firelight. They built up the fire, stayed awake until dawn, then extinguished it and walked out, and afterward never stayed overnight there again.

She heard the screen door open and shut, smelled a foul odor, heard heavy shuffling steps and breathing with a soft growl behind her bunk, and felt something large and furry trace her face. She next remembers waking on the floor, and the next morning a bunkmate said she had seen a big black hairy creature standing behind the witness.

After headlights showed nothing, the odor and sense of unease lifted and the family returned to the tent for the night before breaking camp the next day.

As a child the witness was at home at night with siblings and a cousin when the doorbell rang repeatedly with no one there. An older brother became hysterical after seeing something peeking from behind a tree and gesturing, and later a neighbor arrived saying something had followed him in the woods. Two older girls then saw a dark form at the bottom of a trail that moved and had red eyes, and also something with a cone-shaped head peeking around a garage, and the younger children later saw a large figure pass by a window.

A youth camping group spent the night in a clearing near dense blackberry brush. Late at night the reporter and companions heard movement approaching through the brush, then retreated to sleeping bags. Overnight two unseen creatures reportedly entered camp, vocalized softly, disturbed food supplies, and stepped on and touched one sleeping girl who remained awake while others slept. At dawn no footprints were found on dry ground.

A teacher and companions are said to have encountered a tall creature on at least six occasions near an old bridge in Cooke County, Texas. The encounters occurred at night from a vehicle, with the figure seen as a tall silhouette in headlights and heard making threatening noises while moving through brush. On one occasion the creature was described as bouncing a limb, whose height was measured the next day, and daytime searches reportedly found bones in the creek. Shots were allegedly fired at the creature without apparent effect.

As they walked they heard loud cracks, pops and snaps from the treeline that seemed to parallel their movement, smelled rotten garbage, and the dog became fearful. Near the site of a previously found stick shelter they heard a tree snap and crash nearby, then turned back while snapping sounds seemed to follow them to the clearing.
