The witness was sleeping in a remote cabin when loud wood-on-wood knocking sounds woke him in the early morning hours. The knocks repeated for several minutes very close to the cabin and stopped when he tried to rouse his companion. The next morning both looked around the area but found no explanation for the sounds.

On the night after an initial nighttime vocalization, the witness looked out a bedroom window around 1 a.m. after dogs growled and saw a very tall, hairy human-like creature standing 15 to 20 feet away in moonlight, visible from the midsection up. He unzipped his tent window as a neighboring camper emerged to quiet her dogs, after which the footsteps stopped.

The witness heard branch and twig breaks approaching, then a stick flew over the truck, followed by a basketball-sized rock landing a few feet from the fire. The witness camped alone at Skyline Campground and hiked toward the wilderness. While setting up camp and hiking he felt a ground thump, heard repeated low growls and tree-knocking that seemed to mimic his own thumps, and found multiple footprints including a well-defined deep print. After the other campers left and the sounds resumed behind his site in the early evening, he left the area frightened.

The witness and a companion were sleeping in a trailer at an RV park when loud unintelligible calls woke them. They listened for about 25 minutes as the sounds moved rapidly around the park perimeter and at times came very close to their trailer, causing fear. They looked out the windows but saw no person or lights. The sounds stopped after a car arrived with flashlight users, and nothing further was heard that night.

On a summer night in 2008 the witness was night-fishing by a dam near family cabins when he heard rhythmic splashes crossing the shallow river about 100 feet away and felt intense fear, abandoning his gear to hide in a nearby cabin. Around the same night a relative sitting on a cabin deck smelled a strong death-like odor, heard movement on the stairs and under the cabin, and felt the cabin rock hard enough to knock a VCR and tape rack over. The two compared accounts the next morning on the drive home and concluded the cause was a bigfoot, keeping it to themselves.

The witness was camping with her family at a family cabin site near Dorrington. Around 2:30 a.m. she heard unfamiliar loud, smooth vocalizations and woke her husband, and the two listened together for an hour or more. The sounds included rising calls and rising-then-falling calls, sometimes seeming nearer and sometimes farther, estimated from a quarter to a mile away to the south. No animal was seen, and a scat pile noted behind the cabin was thought by her husband to be from a bear.

The witness reports finding a single large footprint along a forest trail in a small forest preserve and photographing it in daylight in July 2008. The print was estimated at 12 inches long and compared to a men's size 12 shoe. No creature was seen. A large hand print found the following summer is treated as a separate event.

Two companions were quietly floating in a canoe on a dark creek at night when they startled something standing at the creek edge. They heard heavy bipedal footsteps exiting the water, displacing water and making waves, then moving onto the bank. A large rock then splashed into the creek very close to the canoe, after which the subject walked uphill into the woods. The witnesses stayed silent out of fear and never saw the subject because of darkness.
Possible howls heard in the Three Top Mountain area
The witness was staying alone for a week at a secluded rental house on a fishing trip. On two evenings he heard long, deep howls coming from the northwest, each lasting about 30 seconds and repeating every 15-20 minutes for about two hours on the first night and more distantly on the second. The howls prompted barking from local dogs. He said they sounded very similar to the 1994 Ohio Moaning Howl recording.
