Fisherman finds possible footprints near Grassy Lake (w/photo)
Last spring the witness was fishing in the afternoon and found unusual tracks, which were photographed with size references. The tracks led into an area blocked by two creeks, then turned and went back out. The next day the witness's dog picked up scent at the tracks and then fled back to the car, appearing frightened. Another person fishing in the area also reported seeing the tracks.
Frightening encounter experienced on family property outside Naples
Three people spending the night in a trailer heard distant howling that grew closer and seemed to come from more than one direction, and they called back. Small stones were thrown toward them, and they heard stomping, grunting, knocking, movement in brush close by, and trees breaking. They retreated into a bedroom where screaming, walking, and contact with the outside of the trailer continued for about an hour while one of them looked through window blinds and was left frightened.
Possible track found at well site near Deane
Two people walking up a marshy hollow came to a split in the stream and found a large mud impression beside a rock on the island. The impression was estimated at about 14 inches long and photographed with a boot for scale. The finder was uncertain whether toe-like shapes were real or imagined.
Couple hears a series of "Whoops" while night fishing at Tappan Lake
The witness and his wife were night-fishing with family at Tappan Lake in summer 2010. While walking back toward their van to get another chair, they heard repeated whooping sounds nearby in the dark woods. Unfamiliar with the sound, the witness told his wife it was an owl. His wife later heard the same sound on a television show and became convinced it was not an owl.
Motorist observes possible road crossing near Princeton
The witness was driving in heavy fog behind another car when both vehicles braked hard. A tall black human-like figure ran across the road in a couple of long strides and disappeared into the fog. The witness drove past the spot where it left the road but saw nothing there.
Possible vocalizations and rock piles in a backyard near Eatonville (w/photos)
The witness was awakened at home in the early morning by very loud, deep screams from very close outside. The sounds shifted toward the woods and continued as back-and-forth exchanges between two sources, including grunts, barks, cries and shorter screams over many minutes. The witness's three dogs cowered by the door rather than chasing, and the sounds eventually receded north into the woods until they stopped.
Large unknown bipedal animal seen possibly chasing deer near Dixon
The witness was at a rural wooded home on a winter afternoon and saw deer running fast through the woods about 75 to 100 yards away. Behind the deer was a much larger brown upright biped that kept pace with them for about 10 seconds. The witness felt the speed, gait and terrain ruled out a person flushing the deer.
Possible vocalizations heard in the Bradshaw Mountains (w/recordings)
The witness was camping alone overnight and heard repeated strange calls late at night over about 35 minutes that seemed to move closer. The sounds did not match known local animals to the witness. The witness captured part of the sounds on a digital voice recorder and searched the area the next day without finding other campers.
Possible encounter by hunters camping in the Kisatchie National Forest
The witness and a relative were sleeping in a tent at their hunting camp when loud screams woke the witness. After a long silent interval, something on two feet circled the tent, cast a tall shadow and scratched the fabric, then crossed a gravel road into the woods followed by repeated stick-struck sounds. The relative woke briefly and also heard part of the screaming. No tracks were found the next morning.
Possible vocalizations heard while visiting McKenzie River Valley
Late at night at a yurt near a creek, the witness stepped outside and heard loud hooting/howling from across the creek. The sound was heard two more times from inside the yurt, and later the witness saw a faint outline duck behind trees on the hillside. The next morning a partial muddy footprint with hairs was found leading toward the yurt door.
Possible activity while deer hunting on an old coal mining location outside Madisonville
The witness and her daughter were set up in the woods waiting for daylight while hunting. Right at daybreak they heard a loud sustained sound described as a combined howl, yell and growl three times, lasting about 30 seconds each, with coyotes vocalizing between the sounds. The witness was certain the main sound was not a coyote and both were frightened enough to leave.
Mother and son have a possible early morning sighting near Eagle Creek
The witness was driving behind a pickup while taking a child to school before daylight when a tall, dark, bipedal figure ran across the road closely in front of the lead truck. The witness saw its full silhouette in the lead truck's headlights as it continued into roadside woods. The child also reacted to seeing something, and the lead driver was believed to have braked for it.
Family reports possible vocalizations and unexplained activity near Mecosta
On Monday evening 5/14 around 9pm at a relative's riverbank house, the relative noticed a roughly 9- to 10-foot limb protruding from the ground that had not appeared in panoramic photos taken earlier that day. The husband arrived shortly after, felt uneasy and heard rustling in the woods across the river before turning back, and the witness later joined him to inspect the stick and search for footprints without success. The relative suggested the limb may have fallen from a tree, while the witness doubted a natural placement.
Deer hunters hear possible vocalizations and find strange footprints near Ellisville
Early on Jan. 5, 2010 the witness was dropped off to hunt when an extremely low growl was heard and horses in a nearby field ran in apparent fear. About thirty minutes later after moving to a stand, the witness heard single wood knocks coming from three different directions, along with sounds resembling screech owls from the same directions. No source was seen.
Outdoorsman experiences vocalizations and rock throwing on the Sipsey River
The witness was pulling his canoe out of the Sipsey River at dusk to load it for transport when he heard a series of very loud, powerful whoops from a distance, followed after a pause by three more. He said the sound was unlike any owl or other woods or river sound he knew and it frightened him into quickly carrying the canoe up a steep hill to his car. He later noted the whoops sounded like examples on a Bigfoot website and said researchers told him they had no one working that area at the time.
Possible encounter while volunteering at Macbride Raptor Project outside North Liberty
Two volunteers were feeding birds at a raptor center late at night when they heard something large moving in the woods beyond the cages. They followed sounds of heavy footsteps and snapping twigs along a walkway for about 30 minutes as it moved toward a reservoir inlet. Both reported seeing large red eyes during the pursuit but did not describe seeing a body.
Couple has possible experiences on their property over time near Phlox
In August 2010 the witness was home around 2 a.m. and smelled a very strong body odor. The witness's two dogs had refused to go outside earlier and stared at the window without barking. The witness got up to close the windows and reports never smelling anything like that before.
Two young men hiking outside Tehachapi come across possible tracks
While hiking to search for lost sunglasses, the witness noticed a large human-like barefoot track. The companion later viewed the track and estimated the maker would be at least seven feet tall and the track a few days old. The pair kept watch while returning to the car, and snow fell after they reached home.
Possible daylight sighting by motorist on Illinois Route 4 outside Hamel
The witness was driving north on Illinois Route 4 through a wooded area when they spotted a large upright figure about 50 feet from the roadway for a second or two. The figure was described as very tall, thick and broad with orangish fur. The witness did not stop due to lack of safe parking, and a later site visit found no footprints or other evidence.
Possible trackline found in fresh snow near Willow Springs Lake
The witness rode a snowmobile alone on an unplowed, closed road toward Willow Springs Lake after a heavy overnight snowfall. About a mile and a half from the highway, he found a line of large bare footprints with toes crossing the road from woods to woods. He stopped, turned off the machine, and examined the tracks, noting a long stride in deep snow and no other vehicles or tracks nearby. He had no camera and continued his ride.
