The witness was walking alone on a spring morning near Scenic, Washington when an extremely loud sound was heard three times from about half a block away near old railroad bunkhouses. The witness briefly saw a large shadow moving in the woods but nothing conclusive, and they could not search for prints because a fire from the strike caused evacuation.

While they rode about a half mile home, a brother reported a strange hairy man chasing them, which the witness interpreted as an adult protecting its young.

The witness and his wife were lying awake in a lakeside cabin at night when his wife repeatedly said a raccoon was looking in a small rear window. After several minutes he rolled over quickly and saw a dark-faced, brown-furred creature with a large conical head peering in, which left within seconds. The next morning he found a single large heel/footprint about eight inches wide in mud by a small stream behind the cabin.
