More strange incidents reported from an old Farmplace near Blaine
The witness reported finding an X-shaped arrangement of large branches near a deer stand in early October 2015 and leaving leaves, apples, and peanut butter there over several visits. The leaves and fruit repeatedly disappeared, and a jar of peanut butter later vanished and reappeared on the nearby stand with part of the contents missing. During a nighttime visit with two companions, a small curly clear-looking hair was found on the structure. No creature was reported seen during these incidents.
Deer hunter reports possible activity in the Freedom Hills Management Area near Cherokee
The witness entered the woods before daylight to deer hunt and heard grunting and heavy movement walking down a ridge behind him. After daylight he went to the area where the sounds originated and found bedding, hair, and broken branches along the path. The experience left the witness scared and uneasy.
Possible vocalizations heard while visiting McKenzie River Valley
Late at night at a yurt near a creek, the witness stepped outside and heard loud hooting/howling from across the creek. The sound was heard two more times from inside the yurt, and later the witness saw a faint outline duck behind trees on the hillside. The next morning a partial muddy footprint with hairs was found leading toward the yurt door.
Possible nest found near Dawson Creek
The witness was hiking with two dogs when he found a low shelter made from fallen trees with woven branches. Inside and around it he reported reddish hair, many large fibrous scat piles, snapped branches, and a single large bare footprint. His dogs acted nervous and one erased part of the track before it could be measured. He left the area without collecting samples and has not returned.
Possible intimidation behavior experienced while shining for alligators in Ormond Beach
Two people were shining lights for alligators beside a lake at night when vegetation beside the dock shook and repeated knocking like wood hitting a tree was heard. A nearby tree then fell, and as they ran toward safety they heard heavy steps and grunting keeping pace parallel to them. About an hour later they returned and found a tall tree freshly snapped about eight feet up with dripping sap and a hair on a branch.
Caribou hunters find footprints near Kuujjuaq.
A group of about 15 people discovered two sets of large footprints in an open sandy area among pine trees and followed them for roughly 800 to 1,000 feet without seeing the animals. A witness later gave measurements of about 15 by 5 inches for the larger prints and 10 by 4 inches for the smaller. The group also reported finding fine light-brown hair on a tree and taking photos of the prints, though the photos were not available for the report.
Chicken pens being raided by unknown thief near Nevada City
A neighbor's chicken coop was raided at night and the birds were taken whole with no remains left. The witness, who also keeps birds, visited the coop to learn how to reinforce their own enclosure and found wire mesh bent and compressed in a way they felt required great strength. The witness collected hair samples from the scene for analysis, which were later reported to be mountain lion hair.
Hikers find footprints and hair near Huntington Lake
Three hikers in the Rock Creek area found a line of very large footprints crossing a meadow to the north. They counted over a dozen identifiable tracks with deep impressions and long strides, and saw no other human footprints. Beside one print they found a broken branch with hairs on the bark, and later reported photos and analysis of the hair.
Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds
The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.
Footprint found in Beck Spur area
The mother awoke overnight to a strong animal-like odor and sustained movement sounds in weeds outside her trailer window and retrieved a gun. The odor lingered in the trailer for over an hour. The next morning her daughter visited, heard the account, and found a large flat human-like footprint in mud outside the window, which she measured and photographed, plus reddish hair strands on a nearby tree.
Hunters find track in mountains above Falls City
The witness was scouting deer locations by vehicle with two relatives when he found a large human-like footprint at a logging-road turnaround overlooking a ravine. The relatives joined him to examine it closely and they found a coarse hair inside the print. They photographed and videotaped the print and kept the hair in a film container, but the hair was later lost while showing it to someone.

A solo backpacker camped overnight at the Mud Springs hunter camp. Around 10:30 p.m. he was awakened by a loud branch snap followed by heavy vibrating footsteps passing very close to his tent. His nested cook pots were then heard clanging and later found unnested and spread out. After finding a long hair on his backpack Velcro he broke camp and drove to Red Bluff.
17-18 inch tracks in the mud
The witness was hiking in a remote, semi-hilly wooded area when they came across large tracks in mud estimated at about 17-18 inches. They also noticed a strong unpleasant odor and found a pile of long dark brown fur on the ground near a tree. No creature itself was reported as seen.
Motorists observe animal crossing the road
Two occupants of a truck on Highway 131 near Brackettville saw a large hairy creature cross the road about 300 yards ahead in the morning. When they reached the spot the creature was gone, but they found a patch of long brown hair on a barbed-wire fence. The witness later heard from a relative that local ranchers had reported similar sightings in the area.
Family hunting near Wahkiacus is stalked by a large animal
During a deer-hunting drive in foggy woods, the witness and his father found large bipedal tracks over their tire marks and concluded a bear could not have made them. As they circled back, an unseen animal tracked them, producing a strong foul odor and a high-pitched squeal before thrashing off toward the mother waiting at the truck. They later found uprooted small trees, additional tracks in camp, hair on fencing, and a woody debris structure, and heard screaming and a howl that prompted a relative to leave camp.
Man had deer stolen by creature near Lakehead
A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.
Two men find rockpiles, nest at Abiqua River
The witness accompanied an older relative to watch fly fishing along a river. The relative pointed out stacked rock piles and later led the witness to a spot among trees described as a den, containing packed branches, reddish-brown hair tufts, feathers, and a strong decay-like odor. No creature was seen during the visit, and the identification as a den reflected the relative's interpretation.

The witness and a companion heard a loud scream at night at their farm home but could see nothing in the dark. The next morning they followed footprints in the snow starting about 75 feet from the home on the west side of the garage toward the swamp. The prints were described as large bare human-like feet, and hair was found where the track-maker appeared to have leaned against a pine tree, which the witness collected.
Follow up investigation to track find in Rathbone
In early August 1995, a couple fishing at a neighbor's pond near Addison found large footprints, hair-like material and disturbed vegetation. Additional prints appeared on subsequent days on different sides of the pond. State wildlife officials and university staff examined casts and samples but did not identify the source.
