The witness and his wife drove a short distance from a relative's home to their trailer to pick up diapers for their baby. At the house they found their penned hounds barking unusually and noticed a strong rancid odor at the back of the house. They collected the diapers and left without further investigation that night. The following evening they heard a television news account of a nearby sighting that also mentioned a rotting-meat smell.

Four girls were riding horses on a moonlit night when their horses stopped and focused on a hilltop ahead. They heard a loud guttural growl mixed with vowel-like sounds and wood snapping, which frightened them. They galloped back to the farm where they were staying. The next morning they found a small wooden corral they had built on that hilltop broken apart.

On a clear night in August 1972, the 12-year-old witness was reading late in his bedroom when feral dogs chased something into his backyard. He heard heavy bipedal footfalls, a violent impact against the house corner and window, a grunt, and then a short deep growl directed at the dogs, followed by silence. The intruder then fled over a cedar fence as the dogs pursued, leaving a strong foul odor. Next morning the witness found a flattened flowerbed and trellis, a toppled lumber stack, and a tuft of hair of uncertain origin on the fence.

The witness and relatives were camped overnight when a foul stench filled the air and an extremely loud scream beginning as a growl was heard. In early July 1972 the witness was slowly driving family members on a faint dirt track atop a broad ridge when upright human-like figures appeared ahead to the left. Neither reported seeing anything.

When the witness was about seven, the family found very large footprints on a Lake Superior beach. While leaving through the woods toward the car they heard loud screeching and something large jumping nearby without being seen. They left quickly in the car, with the witness feeling the source was too big to be people.

The witness reports that while staying at the parents' rural property with a friend around dusk in late summer 1972, they observed a large hairy figure filling the barn doorway from about a hundred yards away. The pair ran to tell parents inside the house, and when they returned the figure was gone. The witness estimated the figure at eight feet tall, broad enough to fill the doorway, and brownish-black in color.
