A couple camping alone in a state forestry heard large movements around camp all evening. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.

The witness ran inside, then returned with a flashlight to find twisted vegetation and snapped branches and noted a foul smell.

Rocks landed around the witness, including one larger rock seen coming through the trees, and the witness threw a rock back before leaving. The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

Over about an hour they heard tapping from the woods, running footfalls, crashing in brush, and other strange noises, while stones were reportedly thrown toward the companions. They also found many snapped trees and a very large mound of possible scat that a tossed rock sank into.

The opposing unit later said it never left base, and a next-day visit found snapped branches above head height but no tracks.
