The witness and a companion parked to take a daytime walk near a river bridge. After the witness struck a tree with a stick, they twice heard very loud vocalizations estimated to be about fifty yards away. After returning to the car they then heard very loud knocking sounds before driving off. The report states this was not a visual incident.

Four climbers report repeated vocalizations
Five campers at a basecamp on Mt. Snowy late at night heard a long loud vocalization coming from a ridge behind camp. The sound began like a low growl and rose to a high howling scream, repeating several times over an extended period while seeming to move farther away. The men, experienced in the woods, said it did not match known animals, and a search the next morning found no sign.
