Couple see large prints near Orick
The witness and a companion were walking dogs along Redwood Creek in the afternoon and waded across to examine sandbars on the south bank. A short distance upstream they found three large footprints that appeared to enter the water. The clearest print was long and narrow with five toes and no arch, measured at about 14.5 inches with about a 4-foot stride, and no clear exit trail was located.
Hiker sees footprint near Willow Creek
The witness was scouting an area southwest of Louse Camp near Bluff Creek in the morning and found a single large footprint in an old mud puddle, which they recorded on video. The print was described as 16 inches long and almost 6 inches wide at the heel. Several snapped trees were also noted in the area.
Forest Service employees see footprints in Six Rivers National Forest
Two forestry technicians stopped for lunch at Onion Lake while closing seasonal gates. During a walk around the lake, the witness found tracks coming out of the shallow water and going into the forest. Both workers examined the prints, measured them with a tape, recorded details in notebooks, then left to finish work without telling supervisors.

The witness found two unusual footprints in the evening and made plaster casts and footage of them. Later, while sleeping alone in a tent, the witness was awakened by heavy footsteps, ground vibrations, and breaking branches very close by. Upon exiting the tent with a flashlight, the witness saw and smelled nothing, then packed up and left.
Tracks found on the bank of the Trinity River across from Tish Tang Campground
Children discovered large footprints on a river beach across from a campground. An investigator visited the site days later and documented about half a dozen large tracks leading from the water's edge upstream to bedrock. The tracks were estimated to be at least two weeks old, with grass growing in them.
Large footprints found by witnesses
The witness and a friend were walking their dog on a trail when the dog lunged up a steep embankment toward loud crunching and branch-breaking sounds from above. They followed a short way to the top of a ridge but the source of the noise was gone. On top they found freshly broken lower tree branches up to 10 feet high and foot-like impressions in the duff without claw marks, then returned cross-country to the trail.
Witness reports seeing footprints as a child
As a young child, the witness was helping a relative with weed clearing in a bean field while another relative operated harvesting machinery. They found a line of very large human-like footprints with an unusually long stride leading toward the house and showed them to the other relative. The family contacted authorities, many local people came to view the prints, and the witness recalls being frightened afterward.
Father and son see large footprints outside Orick
While camped on a river bar, the witness and his father walked inland up a creek to look for flowing water. On a sandy bar beside a pool they found very large, deep tracks crossing in a straight line with a long stride. The father compared his own foot, grew tense and watchful, then led the witness quickly back to camp saying they were bear tracks and telling him not to tell the others.
