Startled hiker sees tall shaggy biped on trail near Leadville
A solo hiker descending a high mountain trail heard a very loud scream-growl vocalization and stopped to scan. He saw a tall, hairy biped about 50 yards away at the forest edge staring at him for several seconds, tilting its head before turning and running fast into the pines out of sight. He then continued down the trail anxiously without photographing it.
Nighttime sighting of two furry bipeds in Eagle River during snowstorm
The witness was driving west on a snowy highway at night when headlights revealed two upright, furry figures walking in the middle of the river. The witness pulled over and watched them from about 30 feet away, noting human-like shape with long arms, elbows and knees, and a face-to-face look with the nearer one. After passing them and getting out to look upriver, the witness waited several minutes but the figures did not reappear around the bend, then drove home.
Large creature leaves 12"+ handprints on camper trailer during rainy night
The witness and three companions camped over multiple rainy nights. They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. When leaving they later found muddy primate-like handprints high on the camper and a trailer lock twisted and broken.
Daytime sighting by Pike's Peak tourist
While stopped at a picnic-area parking lot on the Pike's Peak road, the witness stood atop a large rock formation while a parent prepared to take a photograph from below. The witness reported noticing a black, large-bodied creature in motion about 100 feet behind the parent and shouted for the parent to look, but the parent did not turn. The creature was gone within a few seconds. The witness stated the animal was not a bear.
Daytime sighting by hiker, off West Sopris Creek Road
The witness was hiking with dogs on a packed snow trail when other dogs began barking at something ahead. He saw a gorilla-like furry creature sitting in the shade of a pine about 50 yards away watching the dogs. After he tripped in a snow hole, the creature left over the ridge, showing only the back of its head. Deep snow prevented him from following or finding tracks.
Large creature crosses road in 1 1/2 strides
The witness and a companion were driving at night toward Pagosa Springs after watching a boxing match. About 20 yards ahead a creature crossed the county road quickly in front of them. They stopped where it crossed and saw footprints in snow on the road before driving away fast.
Daylight sighting by hikers in the Loveland Pass area (Cont. Div.)
Two hikers with a dog descended from the continental divide into a boggy meadow beside a large stream. They heard noises from the opposite bank and then saw a large hairy brown-and-black animal watch them for several seconds. The animal then moved away downstream through brush on two legs with a long loping gait. The witness noted the dog remained calm, unlike its usual reaction to wild animals.
Teen and uncle chase reddish bigfoot in San Isabel National Forest
While riding four-wheelers with relatives, the witness and a companion noticed a tall stump-like shape that stood upright and walked into the trees. After driving on, they went into the woods on foot and saw it run across a meadow a short distance away. They split up to chase it but lost it, finding only a few footprints they could not cast.
Late night sighting by backpacker near Crater Lake
During a multi-day backpacking trip the witness left his tent at night and saw large green-glowing eyes about 70 feet away on the trail. The figure appeared over eight feet tall, stood on two legs, and had a very large head. After staring for about 30 seconds and being lit by a headlamp, it blinked, turned and walked out of sight.
Backpacker meets an 8-foot hairy biped standing behind tent
The witness was camped alone in a remote meadow with pack goats and dogs while tending a sick animal. At dusk the animals became alarmed and the witness exited a tent to see a tall erect chestnut-furred figure about 12 feet away staring directly. After a mutual stare the figure made a low rumble, a second figure was glimpsed behind it, and both left quickly with ground vibrations felt. The witness remained overnight without further incident and left the next morning.

The witness reported finding three large human-like footprints while fly fishing on the south shore of a river east of town. The prints were documented with photographs and tape measurements, including one about 18 to 19 inches long with a 38-inch step to the next print. The investigator stated that bear, human, and hoax explanations were ruled out by visual examination and estimated a very heavy animal from depth and area.
Trucker has nighttime roadside sighting south of Colorado Springs near Ft. Carson
The witness was driving a tractor-trailer south on a dark highway in the early morning when headlights lit a figure on the east side of the road. The figure first appeared bent over, then stood upright as the truck approached, showing wide shoulders, an ape-like face, and yellow eyeshine. The witness passed at highway speed within moments and could not discern fur color.
Night time sighting by a youth leader at a bible camp near Grand Junction
The witness was crouched in bushes beside a road near a baseball field while playing a nighttime search game at a mountain camp. A very tall, muscular, hair-covered figure emerged from bushes near third base, paused and crouched as children walked past on the road, then crossed the field in seconds and entered the woods. The witness watched in moonlight from near first base and afterward returned to the cafeteria.
Rockhound startled to find he's being observed
The witness was looking for rocks in a forested area in the early morning and returned to the parked car to find the windshield wipers flipped outward. The witness then noticed a dark crouched mass at the tree line first taken for a bear. After getting into the car and slamming the door, the witness saw the figure stand about 7-8 feet tall and run away over a rock mound, then drove away.
Driver has daylight sighting off CO 91 between Copper Mtn. and Leadville
The witness was driving toward Leadville in daylight when he noticed a tall stump-like shape in a meadow about 100 feet away. As he got closer the shape appeared to rotate from the waist up and look at him, revealing a hairy, thick-bodied figure with a head, facial features, and long legs. He braked hard and skidded to a stop, losing sight in the dust, and when he turned back there was no tree or figure in the field.
Report of a field investigation over several days
Three researchers camped in a remote timbered drainage in early August 1998 to study suspected sasquatch activity. Over two afternoons they heard loud primate-like calls and screams around camp, and during two nights they heard conversational vocalizations, rhythmic rock-clicking, and stealthy footfalls that alarmed horses. They also detected red eyeshine and later found a fresh animal bed overlooking the camp. They left early, concluding no conclusive evidence was obtained but the area warranted further investigation.
Creature observed running on hind legs
The witness group had set up camp and walked up the mountain to scout for an upcoming elk hunt. From about 200 yards away in an open spot they watched a large black creature running away upright on two legs at high speed. The witness noted experience hunting black bears and stated the creature was not a bear or any known animal, estimating it at about 8 feet tall.

While driving on a forest road in the early morning to find a campsite, the witness and a relative noticed an orange glow in a roadside stand of trees. As they drove past, the witness saw a tall erect human-like figure standing behind a large rock close to the road, turning its head and upper body to watch the truck. They did not stop, continued to a lake to wait for daylight, then returned in the morning to examine the site and take photos.
Twenty-two inch tracks found
The witness reports discovering four large, bare human-like footprints with five toes that followed a deer path down a hill and crossed a dirt road. The tracks in soft ground sank 2 to 3 inches, while those on the hard road left only dirt in foot shape. The witness measured the tracks at 22 inches long with an eight-foot spacing and tried to follow them but was stopped by rocks.
Sightings by hunting guide in Pike National Forest
The witness had camped alone in a remote valley and left before dawn to hunt elk from a high outcropping. After sunrise he noticed a dark figure squatting by a beaver pond that then stood upright, looked in his direction, and walked through the creek toward his camp before continuing up a ridge. After watching for several minutes, he left the overlook, packed his camp, and says he has not returned.
