He turned and saw an ape-like biped watching from behind a tree a short distance away, which made a deep vocal sound. He ran to his car, saw the creature moving away through the trees, and left quickly.

The witness accelerated into and across a grass field, and as they were leaving the field the creature threw the log toward them but missed. The log was gone when the witness returned the next day.

A semi-truck driver traveling east on Highway 30 through the Des Moines River valley at twilight saw three deer run across the road ahead, followed about 75 yards behind by a tall hairy biped apparently chasing them. As the truck reached the crossing point, the creature stood at the edge of the tree line about 75 feet off the road watching the truck pass and turning to watch the deer.

The witness was driving east out of Fort Scott, Kansas into Missouri at about 4 a.m. when a hair-covered bipedal figure ran across the road in front of the headlights in two or three steps and disappeared into forest. The witness noted a brief bad smell just after passing the crossing spot.

The witness drove to a bear bait station in the early morning and paused at a trail fork. A large gray-white creature crossed the trail about 50-60 yards away and continued through brush toward the bait site, with loud bipedal footsteps heard for several seconds. After the forest went quiet, the witness turned and saw a very large, dark reddish-brown, ape-faced head peering over vegetation, which watched curiously for a few seconds before moving behind a tree. The companion heard the sounds and smelled the odor but did not see the figure, and the pair quickly returned to their vehicle.

While camping overnight for an archery hunt, a witness and a relative reported hearing mumbling vocalizations and footsteps around their tent for hours. The relative reported seeing a large hand press the tent wall, and both later reported seeing large upright figures near the truck and treeline, one illuminated by flashlight. After the figures continued circling the camp, the two packed the tent without breaking it down and drove away around 4 a.m.

Shortly after they passed, the witness saw a small stocky reddish-haired figure moving on two legs about 80 yards away on the same trail. After the children came back, the figure reappeared behind them, squatted in the brush, and disappeared.

Last summer the witness was kayaking down a creek around midday when rocks splashed near him. He looked toward the source and saw a creature kneeling like a person, which then stood, made eye contact for about 30 seconds, and ran through the woods. He noted its stride was wider than a human's and it went straight through brush. He then paddled back to his truck.

Only the driver observed the figure, as the front passenger was looking at a phone and the children were asleep.
