The witness and a companion were driving north on the levee gravel road at dusk after a fishing trip. An upright hair-covered figure emerged from tall grass, crossed the road in front of the vehicle headlights, and went down into tall grass on the other side and out of sight. As the vehicle passed through the path it had taken, the witness smelled a very strong musty and putrid odor.

A group of six people observed a large, brown, long-haired, foul-smelling animal for about 15 seconds in the morning. The animal walked quickly away without running and disappeared into a swampy wooded area when they tried to follow. No vocalizations were heard and the encounter was described as not life-threatening.

Late one spring night in 1979, the witness and a sibling were in bed in a downstairs bedroom when they saw a tall hairy figure looking in the window and then at the back door apparently trying to get inside. The witness and four companions were sitting and talking around a campfire at night when they heard loud crashing and rustling about 50 feet away in the woods. They reported seeing a pair of red glowing eyes about eight feet high that watched them for about a minute, though no body outline was visible in the dark. The source of the eyes then turned and moved away through the woods making crashing sounds.

A large grayish hair-covered animal lunged into the ravine close in front of the adults, paused to look at them, then leaped out and ran toward the parked car area. During a nighttime military evasion exercise, the witness walked forward to look for his sergeant and heard heavy footsteps. A large dark hulking figure appeared briefly at the end of a clearing about 50 feet away and ran about 20 feet into the woods. The sergeant arrived from another angle and also reported seeing a dark form running away, and both later agreed it was not a deer, bear, human or other animal.

At dawn on a snowy morning a child resting on a living-room couch noticed a moving shape reflected in the television screen and then looked out the window. A large hairy face was peering inside from a few feet away and looked directly at the child. The terrified child fled upstairs to a relative, and holes in the snow were later seen where the figure had stood.

The witness estimated its height at 7-8 feet by comparing it to tree limbs relative to his own height.

While driving out of a clear-cut on a forestry road after searching for artifacts, the witness spotted a large dark animal about 200 yards away moving downhill toward a creek. He stopped to watch it walk upright with a stooped posture for about 75 yards, swinging its arms, until it entered the treeline along the creek. He drove across the creek to look for it on the other side, but it never emerged, and he did not leave his vehicle to search.

Two siblings were playing in a wooded valley by a stream on a family farm in late afternoon when they felt uneasy and heard a loud stick break. As they tried to leave over a fence, the reporter came face-to-face with a huge black hairy figure crouched behind a tree and screamed. The sibling also saw the figure standing fully erect and heard it pursuing him as both fled out of the woods to the farmhouse.

In approximately 1992, a deer hunter watched a large bipedal animal through his rifle scope for 15-20 minutes from about 125-150 yards away. The animal stood still and appeared to watch him back until a branch snap to the left broke his attention, after which the animal disappeared. The hunter left the area quickly without attempting to shoot or follow.

After hearing rustling ahead, the witness turned on the headlights and reported a very large hair-covered creature standing a few feet in front of the truck. The witness immediately reversed to leave, and when looking forward again the creature was gone.
A sighting by two hunters
In 1979 two companions were squirrel hunting along a dry creek bed in late afternoon when their dog became agitated and ran off. They then saw a very tall dark silhouette standing on the high creek bank about 80 yards away that stepped behind a tree and did not reappear. Frightened, they left the creek by a low spot and returned home, finding the dog hiding under the house.
