The witness and a companion were camped at Surprise Lake at dusk when they heard patterned knocks and rock-on-tree sounds. After the witness threw a rock against a tree and heard a similar sound returned, they saw a large brownish-red animal squatted and swaying behind a tree upslope. They attempted blurry photos while knocks were heard from behind the camp and from the animal's direction before leaving at first light.

While stopped at a picnic-area parking lot on the Pike's Peak road, the witness stood atop a large rock formation while a parent prepared to take a photograph from below. The witness reported noticing a black, large-bodied creature in motion about 100 feet behind the parent and shouted for the parent to look, but the parent did not turn. The creature was gone within a few seconds. The witness stated the animal was not a bear.

He saw a gorilla-like furry creature sitting in the shade of a pine about 50 yards away watching the dogs. After he tripped in a snow hole, the creature left over the ridge, showing only the back of its head. Deep snow prevented him from following or finding tracks.

They heard noises from the opposite bank and then saw a large hairy brown-and-black animal watch them for several seconds. The animal then moved away downstream through brush on two legs with a long loping gait. The witness noted the dog remained calm, unlike its usual reaction to wild animals.

During a multi-day backpacking trip the witness left his tent at night and saw large green-glowing eyes about 70 feet away on the trail. The figure appeared over eight feet tall, stood on two legs, and had a very large head. After staring for about 30 seconds and being lit by a headlamp, it blinked, turned and walked out of sight.

In 1978 the witness was picnicking with family near Wellington Lake in the afternoon when she saw a white-furred bipedal creature about 60 feet away. The creature repeatedly stepped out from behind a boulder and ducked back as a companion turned to look, repeating this four to five times before disappearing. The companion never saw it. The creature alternated between bipedal and stooped postures and moved swiftly and silently, striking the witness as playful rather than frightening.

They retreated to a bedroom without curtains where they heard breathing and scratching and saw a hairy hand against the window screen.
