The witness was hiking above the dam at Deadwood Reservoir when he noticed movement uphill about 60-70 yards away. A reddish, bulky bipedal animal stood, looked toward him, then walked quickly uphill out of sight. He also heard deep grunting, left camp early, and said the encounter challenged his prior skepticism.

A group of about ten young campers spent Memorial weekend at a secluded forest clearing. After earlier strange sounds and a brief sighting, one camper encountered a tall bipedal figure near the camp bathroom area and alerted the group. Several campers armed themselves, moved children into a vehicle, fired warning shots, and pursued the figure toward a nearby friends camp where they reported being circled by three tall dark-furred bipeds. The following mornings the group reported handprints on vehicles, footprints, nests, and broken-tree crosses and teepee structures around both camps.

Two hikers about one half to one mile from camp saw an upright figure watching them from behind a large tree about thirty yards away. The figure swayed briefly then ran away on two legs and disappeared into darkness after about 200 feet. On returning downstream he saw movement behind a tree and then a large dark human-like figure standing 20 to 30 yards away. Late at night in February 2011 the witness was driving on Highway 95 between Potlatch and Tensed when a very large dark bipedal form crossed the road in front of the car. They watched a fur-covered figure crouched at the water's edge drinking with its hand. The figure stood to at least eight feet, stared at them without blinking for a minute or two, then resumed drinking as the two left in fear.

The hikers watched for about 15 seconds until the group entered trees and then debated what they had seen without approaching.

The pair heard movement around camp all night and the next day found freshly twisted tree limbs nearby but no usable tracks due to dry ground.

After stepping out of the truck, the witness came face to face with a giant hairy biped standing close by. He retreated to the truck, where his wife had watched through the windshield, and they watched and heard the creature move back into dense forest breaking branches.
