Daylight sighting by motorist along highway 149, ten miles SE of Lake City
The witness was riding as a passenger in a truck descending a mountain pass while looking for wildlife. A tall dark hairy figure emerged at the forest edge, turned uphill and walked along the treeline with a gliding gait for four to five steps until a road curve blocked the view. The witness was unable to speak at first, then asked the driver to stop, but the driver did not see the figure.

Late at night the witness looked out the front window of the home and saw a large ape-like figure moving briskly north along the gravel road in front of the property. The figure was described as about 8 feet tall, hunched forward, with very large arms and legs, seen briefly in moonlight and shadow. No other witnesses were present.

The witness was sitting on a rock in a high basin while hiking when they saw a large brown biped try to climb a snow cornice, fail, climb down, and walk briskly north out of view, then later reappear walking south above the cornice. About 45 minutes later the witness returned to the spot with another hiker and found handprints and footprints in the snow and photographed them. No further sighting occurred after traversing the difficult slope.

It crossed the full width of the road and climbed a steep embankment with little apparent effort. When they stopped at the crossing site they noted several mule deer nearby that did not flee.

A tall dark upright figure crossed the two-lane road in three quick steps, showing long human-like bent legs, wide shoulders, and a large long head with a flat side-profile face. While hunting elk and glassing a snowy mountainside with binoculars, the witness saw a tall brown figure walking upright on two legs along a distant ridge. The figure moved quickly, paused to look over the valley, then walked back the way it came and disappeared into the trees. Two people staying at a mountain cabin watched a large black upright animal move from near a river across a road and uphill toward an aspen grove over about two minutes, using binoculars for part of the observation. The animal turned toward a passing truck, then moved away with longer strides while looking back. Afterwards the witnesses went to the grove and found and measured a large five-toed footprint, but snow prevented further tracking.

From beside the truck she watched a furry reddish figure stand upright, tip its head back as if sniffing, stare at her, then bend to pick up a small object and run bipedally across a meadow toward the treeline. He watched through binoculars a tall dark figure walking upright through open grass for a minute or more before it disappeared into brush behind a rise. They heard heavy footfalls and branch breaking approaching from a draw, then saw a large light-colored upright figure about 40 feet away at the edge of the firelight. A professional driver was driving an empty bus eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 near Mancos, between Cortez and Durango, shortly after sunset. About 150 yards ahead, the witness saw a large, entirely dark, muscular figure on two legs dash rapidly across the road from south to north in two to three seconds. When the witness reached the crossing point, thick woods on both sides hid any further trace, and a second driver traveling behind did not see the crossing.

The witness was returning on foot to camp at night after sitting and hunting in a mountain park. He heard steps, snapping and rustling following him for some distance to an open moonlit bald. After waiting there and then entering timber on the far side, he looked back and saw a large dark shape where he had sat stand up and come toward him; after he shouted it ran into the trees.

A solo hiker descending a high mountain trail heard a very loud scream-growl vocalization and stopped to scan. He saw a tall, hairy biped about 50 yards away at the forest edge staring at him for several seconds, tilting its head before turning and running fast into the pines out of sight. He then continued down the trail anxiously without photographing it.

After driving on, they went into the woods on foot and saw it run across a meadow a short distance away. They split up to chase it but lost it, finding only a few footprints they could not cast.

The witness was crouched in bushes beside a road near a baseball field while playing a nighttime search game at a mountain camp. A very tall, muscular, hair-covered figure emerged from bushes near third base, paused and crouched as children walked past on the road, then crossed the field in seconds and entered the woods. The witness watched in moonlight from near first base and afterward returned to the cafeteria.
Rockhound startled to find he's being observed
The witness was looking for rocks in a forested area in the early morning and returned to the parked car to find the windshield wipers flipped outward. The witness then noticed a dark crouched mass at the tree line first taken for a bear. After getting into the car and slamming the door, the witness saw the figure stand about 7-8 feet tall and run away over a rock mound, then drove away.
Driver has daylight sighting off CO 91 between Copper Mtn. and Leadville
The witness was driving toward Leadville in daylight when he noticed a tall stump-like shape in a meadow about 100 feet away. As he got closer the shape appeared to rotate from the waist up and look at him, revealing a hairy, thick-bodied figure with a head, facial features, and long legs. He braked hard and skidded to a stop, losing sight in the dust, and when he turned back there was no tree or figure in the field.

The witness group had set up camp and walked up the mountain to scout for an upcoming elk hunt. From about 200 yards away in an open spot they watched a large black creature running away upright on two legs at high speed. The witness noted experience hunting black bears and stated the creature was not a bear or any known animal, estimating it at about 8 feet tall.
