Report of a field investigation over several days
Three researchers camped in a remote timbered drainage in early August 1998 to study suspected sasquatch activity. Over two afternoons they heard loud primate-like calls and screams around camp, and during two nights they heard conversational vocalizations, rhythmic rock-clicking, and stealthy footfalls that alarmed horses. They also detected red eyeshine and later found a fresh animal bed overlooking the camp. They left early, concluding no conclusive evidence was obtained but the area warranted further investigation.

Immediately after, a large upright shaggy creature leapt across the highway in front of the car from right to left and disappeared into roadside vegetation. After mimicking animal sounds in the evening, the witness stayed awake through the night hearing crashes, footsteps, grunts and mimicking speech, and saw eye shine high off the ground. In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

Two people driving a van at night saw a very tall, hair-covered biped cross the road in their headlights. The figure crossed quickly, paused to look from behind a tree with red eyeshine, then left toward dense woods. The pair turned around and drove home upset without stopping.
Truck driver spots tall figure on roadside
The witness was driving a truck at night when a dark figure was seen on the roadside appearing to roll on the ground. As the truck got closer the figure stood upright on two legs, moved toward the side of the road, and then jumped up and down while hitting its chest. The witness drove past without stopping and continued on.

While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

The witness reported driving on a country road when a large creature crossed and stopped in front of the car. After the witness brightened the headlights, the creature approached, struck the car and leaned on the hood while screaming loudly. The witness reversed around it and drove away while still hearing it screaming in the distance.

The witness was driving with companions late at night to look around. A companion noticed two red eyes on a bank, initially thought to be a raccoon, then the creature blinked and walked upright on two legs across the road about 100 yards ahead. The group locked the doors and drove away as the creature disappeared into a timbered thicket.

In March 1997, two sisters driving to their mother's house encountered a large hairy figure sitting beside a dirt road. When headlights illuminated it, the figure stood to seven feet or taller and then moved toward the river. The witnesses were frightened and said it was neither a bear nor a human.

The witness was driving an 18-wheeler north on Highway 71 near the Sulphur River around 1 a.m. when headlights revealed a trunk-like shape with red shining eyes on the roadside by the water. As the truck got closer, the shape turned and walked on two legs into the swampy brush with large quick steps. As the truck passed the spot, a loud scream was heard over the engine noise with the windows closed, and the witness continued driving without stopping.

The creature showed eye reflection, covered its eyes from the light, braced between two small trees with large hairless-palmed hands, then shambled away. The pair heard movement around camp all night and the next day found freshly twisted tree limbs nearby but no usable tracks due to dry ground.

The witness was driving on a road north of the Salmon River around midnight after dropping off companions. Headlights illuminated a brown upright animal about seven feet tall standing on the road. After about ten seconds the animal jumped agilely off the road down toward the narrow river bottom.

Movement in bushes beside the road revealed bright blue eyes on a tall dark figure standing and looking at them, with huge feet noted.
