The witness was riding as a passenger in a truck descending a mountain pass while looking for wildlife. A tall dark hairy figure emerged at the forest edge, turned uphill and walked along the treeline with a gliding gait for four to five steps until a road curve blocked the view. The witness was unable to speak at first, then asked the driver to stop, but the driver did not see the figure.

The witness was sitting on a rock in a high basin while hiking when they saw a large brown biped try to climb a snow cornice, fail, climb down, and walk briskly north out of view, then later reappear walking south above the cornice. About 45 minutes later the witness returned to the spot with another hiker and found handprints and footprints in the snow and photographed them. No further sighting occurred after traversing the difficult slope.

The witness and a companion were resting quietly on a rocky outcropping during a daytime hike when they heard a low growl-like exhalation immediately followed by a higher-pitched whoop from the forest below. The sounds were attributed to a single unseen animal about 30-40 yards away that seemed startled by a passing mountain biker. They searched the area a few minutes later but found nothing and heard nothing further.

A tall dark upright figure crossed the two-lane road in three quick steps, showing long human-like bent legs, wide shoulders, and a large long head with a flat side-profile face. A professional driver was driving an empty bus eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 near Mancos, between Cortez and Durango, shortly after sunset. About 150 yards ahead, the witness saw a large, entirely dark, muscular figure on two legs dash rapidly across the road from south to north in two to three seconds. When the witness reached the crossing point, thick woods on both sides hid any further trace, and a second driver traveling behind did not see the crossing.
