A farm wife driving past an abandoned farmyard just before dark reported seeing a hair-covered creature with a monkey-like face. She left the area quickly without lingering. Relatives stopping at a communal trash dump in daylight saw a very large, naked, reddish-brown hair-covered male figure emerge from the tree line about 70 feet away. The witness, then a teenager on a church group camping trip in the mountains, was sleeping apart from the group and watching the peaks. He noticed the jagged horizon looked smooth and swaying, realized it was the silhouette of a large standing animal at the foot of his sleeping bag, smelled a skunk-cabbage odor, hid under his bag, and later found it gone. Around the same time other children by a rock overhang shouted about seeing a big gorilla-like figure moving and walking away, which the adults dismissed.

As a teenager at home at night, the witness heard a cry and loud noise outside her bedroom window and fetched her father. Her father went outside with a flashlight and reported seeing a huge hairy bipedal figure running away. The next morning the family found a steel downspout twisted around and folded in half.
Two incidents, years apart, one auditory, one visual, near Smithfield
Late at night the witness was driving a small pickup with a companion to get car parts before a store closed. Coming around a curve on a dirt road near an old strip-mine area, the headlights illuminated a large red-haired standing figure on the roadside. The driver braked and started to reverse, but after the companion urged him to keep going, he drove on without further observation.
